Default Crimson Cat hiding as a RS

I found a 1983 Capri on craigslist and after looking at the buck tag found out it was not a RS but actually a Crimson Cat. It needs a lot of work on the inside and is painted green. It does have a strong running engine, smooth transmission, and the price is right.

Yes, both the BM and the CC say "CAT" on the tag, but...

277 = Bright Red exterior paint color

So it is a CC and not a BM. (BM exterior paint color would be 1CC [Black] or 9D [Polar White].)

Thanks guys, I do have a little work to do before it drives reliably. The shifter lost a bolt so it doesn't stay strait up. The brakes either need drained or rebuilt I still need to take them apart and look. And it did over heat because I need a new radiator so it spit up a bunch.

I would recommend checking the brakes over completely and doing a complete and thorough flush of the brake system. That alone is worth the time and the small amount of money to say your butt! Don't trust the brakes to the fluid that is in there right now, you have no idea how old it is. Besides you can flush an entire Mustang system with 2 quarts of brake fluid, so it's foolish not to spend the $20 or less to be safe!

    Good Luck!

What is the last digit near the hole (055_?) You should be able to read the number from the back of the tag. How many mile son the odometer? Which of the following options does it have?

factory steering wheel: three-spoke or four-spoke
interval windshield wiper (twist knob for timed delay, in addition to normal off/low/high)
light group (light under hood, in glove box, in front ashtray, and in hatchback w/ a switch, and buzzer when lights on/driver door open/key not in ignition)
lower bodyside protection (vinyl coating below bodyside molding on doors)
premium sound system ("AMP PULL" knob to left of radio, amplifier under center of dash pad)
    tilt steering wheel

Looks like the typical, either a previous owner didn't like the bubble hatch or damaged it and couldn't/wouldn't find a replacement and went with a Mustang hatch instead.

I actually prefer the 79-82 Capri with the flat hatch, but if it was born a bubble butt, I will leave it a bubble butt!

I am interested in determining if there was a fad or movement to repaint Red Foxes Green back in the 90's or so, as this is something like the 20th Fox I have seen that was original bright red and repainted some shade of emerald/forest green. Just wondering!

I do like the flat better but the bubble has grown on me. I'm just worried about replacement.

That is generally the issue for most. The bubble hatches are out there, but getting more difficult to source in good condition every day. Besides they are a major pain to even think about shipping.
