Thread: Exhaust tips

    Default Exhaust tips

    Hey everyone,

I'm looking for ideas on exhaust tips...I have seen the regular chromed tail pipes, but I am looking around to see if anyone has done anything different (rear exit) I guess just curious to see what everyone has. I am kind of leaning to the quad tip set up, but haven't made my mind up on anything yet..

Post what you have, I love seeing different ideas

I'm not very exciting when it comes to tips (or exhaust in general). Just give me the factory tailpipes (polished or chrome is fine) and I'm happy. I like the dual tip tailpipe that the early foxes got (like the 79 Pace Car), but I don't think I would like them on a dual exhaust car (meaning the car would have 4 tips). The quad tailpipe look only works on certain cars, I just don't think the fox mustang is one of them. But again, I don't like a lot of flash when it comes to the exhaust tips or the exhaust I general. I like a nice pair of headers (I think they look cool, and are effective), but anything flashy like a side exhaust, huge pipes, or crazy tips just isn't my style.

If that's what you like then go for it, but it's not my style. Maybe try googling and see if you can find pics of a mustang or Capri with the quad tailpipe set up? Just to make sure it looks the way you want?
    Cheers!

I like the 85 up stock dual exhaust stainless tips. I have seen a local car...I think it was an 82...that kept the stock style single exhaust double chrome tips. It was actually a true dual exhaust that looked like the factory single exhaust...thought is was purty kewl myself.

I like the 79 Pace car duel chrome tip look. It just would not look right with duels, I agree quald tips would be odd at best.

I love my 85GT factory tailpipes...still look great after 30 years. I put an X pipe and Flowmasters on her, but saw no need to replace the tailpipes.

There is a sickness in that man's brain............. but I digress.

To my eye two, duals out back always say European. Two singles always say American. It's a silly bias but, hey, I'm old. I'm allowed.

Tuff call...I'm not a big fan of the factory 82-4 tips by the way the "hang" tips are just too short and look like an after thought. The early sport tuned tips are the best looking in most every way. Factory 85 and up Lx tips are simple and good looking on any Fox Mustang/Capri, Ford just got it right! But very popular. I think quad tips just may work on the right car with the right tip. These were popular in the 80's. Monza and Anza is what I rember. I would look at possibly trying to use a pair of the early Sport tuned tips, just think they need to hung correctly to look right. As the are big and don't want to show too much of tip...kinda a little teaseAttachment 80718Attachment 80719
