Here she is. Really rough and really rusty. Still up in the air with what I'm gonna do with this one. Probably gonna sit on it for a while.

What a shame... She would definitely be a project of love because you'd never get your money back out of her. Sounds like my wife!!! (Did I say that or just think it!!)

Thanks for showing her off and keep us posted.

Yep she's a project for sure. I have a soft spot for these. I figure I'll store it for a while and get the rust fixed. I just got a t top coupe that's about as rough as this one, I'm gonna build it first. If the other coupe turns out well then there's definately hope for this one.

Please do a build thread on both projects! We all benefit from seeing how others tackle repairs/rebuilds. Enjoy the process...

I'll do it. I looked the car over really well today. It's in better shape than I expected. The floors, trunk, rockers and quarters are solid, no rust at all. It's weird how the roof rusted like it did. You don't really see that around here.

Love how people just toss engine parts inside and mess everything up. What's the story on it? Did it come from a salvage yard? I ask because of all the junk just being thrown into it.
1984 Mustang GT owned since 1991 (first car). Mercury Mountaineer GT-40P engine, some suspension mods, currently undergoing a five lug SN95 brake upgrade and more suspension mods. Some minor body and interior mods have been done as well.

Yeah, the interior would have been in decent shape if oily heads, driveshaft and other crap didn't get slung in there. Why not just put it in the trunk!? Oh wait, the trunk is full of Taurus parts lol. It didn't come from a junk yard, I found it through the fyi section here. I bought it from a real nice guy up in northern Indiana. It was headed to the scrapyard when I made a deal on it. Its really not that bad, I'm going to fix this one, I've got a buddy who knows a good rust repair guy and this one will be sent to him along with a donor car(when I find one) for the sheet metal repairs.

Too bad such a rare car, would not be cost effective but could be saved if you're a do it yourselfer though I think keeping labor costs down.

Yeah, I'm gonna be doing allot of the rust reapir on this one myself. I'm a machinist and welder by trade, don't have much experience with this kinda stuff though. I'm gonna take my time and do the research, I think it'll turn out ok. Hopefully I won't get too far in over my head.

Neat car that when done will be awesome, plus the pride of learning a new skill while doing it will make it even better!

It would be hard to repair the support and frame rails I think without making it look on obvious. It can be done, but maybe a a junkyard donor, good cutting wheel and start cutting away on those junked cars. I cut the entire support off an 86 from the bumper to the suspension for my 85. It was $50, but I'm not a welder so I'm ditching the project and using it for parts for other projects. Sad to lose a neat car in my case, but you can save yours. It's all there looks to be. Minus the obvious of course.

That must be a Florida car, they rust from the inside-out. Some of the rustiest cars I've ever seen were from Florida (this one's not that bad). Make sure you mediablast it first with silica sand, so you can see what you have to work with...

I was thinking of having that done. Theres a place close to me that does it, anybody have any advice on a DIY media blast setup?I'm going to drill all the welds out and replace the entire front of the car firewall forward.

Man I wish. I'm not sure of the unit # of the car or even how to find that out.
