Default Help on Repainting 84 Nose, Hood, and Trim

I've got my mustang in the body shop over the winter and I'm going to repaint the trim and nose. My car is currently gloss black on the trim and hood stripe. I love the look of it, but is this the correct color combo for the car? I like the look of these 2 cars, but is it stock. Any info would be extremely helpful, thanks.

Stock Trim is Satin Black, not gloss. You can use SEM Trim black for the trim. As for the hood stripe, it depends if you are having it painted professionally, or DIY as to how much paint you need.

It's all being done professionally. The hood stripe looks like satin black with clearcoat, but the trim appears to be gloss black. These 2 cars are supposed to be stock.

The white one has 7500 original miles, I sat in it when it was here in oregon. The hood stripe and black trim should all be satin black. It doesn't look like it on the white GT, but the front bumpers were painted separately from the rest of the car.

Looking at the first pics again, looks whoever got the GT polished the hood stripe...smh

So, everything is satin. Is clearcoat applied? Another question, are the pinstripes painted?

There's no clearcoat of any kind on that year car. I do know that a fellow FEP member did his hood stripe in gloss black and then followed it with a matte finish clearcoat so it would be easier to clean. The stripes on the sides are tape stripes, not painted. You can buy them from LMRS and a handful of other aftermarket retailers. The tape stripe kit runs about 110-125.00 a set.

Now all that said, there's nothing that said that you couldn't have the small trim stripes masked and painted on, but if you're aiming for a stock look, then stick with the tape stripes.

The fender emblem and decal are too far back on that white car.....

Those are beautiful cars regardless of the gloss paint.

Didn't realize there was a package available either. When I redid the silver stripes on my black GT years ago, I just bought a roll of 1/8 and 3/8 silver pinstriping tape which isn't concours correct of course but it looked just fine.
