Hello.
I just wanted to post some pics of my Capri that I received form Adam(ARJ). There's a lot of work to do, but overall the car is solid. I will post more pics as I make progress.

Sweet!!! Congrats on saving this beauty! !!
It was about time someone picked that car up! What are your plans? Nice shop BTW, looks very tidy.

Nice! Glad another one is saved.. and that was a deal.
Very nice, I have a real soft spot for 82 BMs.
Too bad that your garage is so small & cramped……LOL

I never seem to get the nut that holds the steering wheel fixed
My daughter and I pulled the engine and trans yesterday. Found out the engine and trans are not original to the car, they are both 83's but from different vehicles. Started tearing down the engine and found it had a broken camshaft, never seen that before
dang that is crazy!!! how would that of happened??
If the VIN on the block is DF208998 it is from a 1983 5.0L convertible (unknown if GLX or GT).
The VIN on the trans (DF140949) is from a 1983 GLX 5.0L convertible.

Cut out the rusty sections of the floor pans and welding in the replacement sections. I need some more practice on welding sheet metal.
Looks good!
Welding thin sheetmetal is one of the harder welding tasks. Taking your time and working with your settings will help to improve your welding skills, the final look and quality of your welds. Also don't forget that generally dropping your wire size on your MIG will help a lot too. If you aren't using 0.023 wire right now, you might want to consider it as it will help reduce your weld bead size and cut down on blow outs as you can lower your heat settings. Just remember you might have to increase your feed rate with the smaller wire depending on how you weld.
Good Luck!

Oh! Forgot to mention Congratulations on the BM!
I was trying to work out a plan for getting the Capri, but the timing never worked out for me, so I am quite jealous of your acquisition!
Glad to see it's getting some love and attention and honestly much sooner than I would have been able to. Good luck with the project and I can't wait to see it all fixed up and back to it's former glory!

Thanks for the advice Trey, I will try the smaller wire when I weld the patch on the c-pillar and when I repair the drivers door.
It has been a little while since I have posted any updates, I have been very busy with the car and have run into a few major problems. I have cleaned and degreased the underside of the car and installed full length sub frame connectors. The major issue is with the roof. when I tried to fix some small rust spots which I thought was just on the surface, but I found out that the rust was starting from underneath and working its way to the surface. I believe this was caused by one of the previous owners spraying expandable foam in between the t top frame and roof skin. I think the foam either had moisture in it or it absorbed moisture. I think they used the foam to stop the top from rattling because the rivets securing the roof skin to t top frame where broken. So now I need to find a replacement roof skin

Ever since realizing that I should pass this Capri along to someone else, I've been worried about what might happen to it. Considering its condition and the small following that they have, things weren't looking good.
And now I couldn't feel better about how it has ended up with an owner who has both the resources to handle it properly, and a real enthusiasm for rare Capris. Things couldn't have turned out better, and it seems really likely that this Black Magic will be worthy of much envy when it's done.

Also when not to familiar with welding, one can do a good job by stitch welding. Just go along and bap bap bap with the trigger, make a hot puddle and move and make a hot puddle and move and make a hot puddle. This creates a stitching weld bead and looks very nice when done right. It keeps temps down if you cant get low enough to run a steady bead, however this stuff is very thin anyway so stitching works very well from the get go.
YOU PROB KNOW THIS SO I WILL STOP

DAMN IT! LET THE RABBITS WEAR GLASSES, SAID THE CRIES OF THE CARROT.
YOU SHOULD NEVER SMOKE IN PAJAMAS, YOU COULD CATCH ON FIRE AND BURN YOUR FACE.
I wouldn't necessarily blame a PO. Ford used stuff like that also. I think that is why most sunroof cars' tops rust out as well.I think they used the foam to stop the top from rattling because the rivets securing the roof skin to t top frame where broken.

Never saw a sun roof or T-roof that did not rot out.
Well it's been about a year since I have updated any progress on the car. Unfortunately not much has been done because of thins going on in my life( unemployment and a divorce). I have replaced the roof skin, installed SVO suspension, and I hope to have the body in paint by this weekend. I picked up a 95 H.O. short block and a set of GT40p heads, but because of limited funds I may be stuck with running the SROD.
Thanks for the progress updates and pics. Keep 'em coming.
