    Default my 1980 coupe

]as alot of you know i picked up a 1980 coupe 4 cyl auto from original owner with 79000 km....it has mint interior and the body was underground garaged kept but winter drivin and not rust checked at all...body is original but it does has some rust on bottom of doors and and the frame rails need some attention around the sway bar mounts..the plan is pull motor and trans and get someone to fix the front frame rails then proceed with a nice ford 5.0 5 spd and 8.8 rear end..build a nice 300 to 350 hp and have fun with it. leave the body the way it is and put some ten hole wheels with some nice fat drag radial..being that the sticker in the door says the car weighs about 2600 lbs should move along pretty good...enjoy..will up date when time has come

That's a sweet interior, than your heart sinks when you see the rust. Check out my build thread in my signature. I weigh 2660 without driver and it is stripped. No accesories, bumper support, hvac, tube k member etc. So get it on a scale just to make sure. With a warmed over GT40P motor E cam it has gone 12.5@110 so they can scoot for little money.

Nice score! And a mostly uncut dash. I think I see a classic early '80s Pioneer SuperTuner in there. My old '82 came to me with a Pioneer, but it was a much later deck, with digital tuner and inferior cassette mechanism. Still shaft mount though.
The point is that IIRC my dash was slightly hacked to fit the Pioneer, but nothing a factory radio wouldn't cover up.

That interior shows the benefits of keeping them garaged.
Looks like under your battery tray is the worst part. That's a pretty common problem.

That interior was worth the price of admission alone...wow, that is sweet!

That's the original color of my car, but it had blue interior. The previous owner changed the dash to a black one so I kept going with black. Now I kind of wish it was red. Titanium frost with a red interior would look really nice.

Almost a twin to what my 79 was originally. My interior was way worse, but the rust was less extensive.

Very nice. Ya can get pretty pricey up here if you got to piece an interior together.

Which is why I'm going with minimal bare aluminum skins with racing seats in stripped out race car style. Getting almost anything for the car up here involves expensive shipping and cross border fees. I have come across a few parts closer to home. Just watch the local online ads zealously and you'll likely score a few things.

Have fun with your rebuild, looking forward to progress reports.

well my fuel system is pretty much figured out...was worried about my stock fuel sender when the feed nipple broke off and how you just cannot order new ones anymore, along with the tank straps, but fortunately a local rad shop here in pickering rebuilt the sender and is fabbing up some straps..
Now waiting for this to show up on my door on monday, already have the blue pump, Universal fuel kit with 3/8 line and 6 an braided, Russel filter and holley regulator with a performer edelbrock intake...just need to get a carb and a russel gauge fuel, and some line to the carb, probably going with a edelbrock duel feed electric choke with vac secondaries, pretty much plug and play..i hear they are a good street car carb..stay tuned next week, i am off for two weeks and the wife and kids are gone monday tues and wed..will be doing alot more work on it those days..will update. Any advice with anything is welcome or criticism..

worked on the car for 6 hours today..fuel pump mounted and plumbed, the fuel line is run and secured and the fuel regulator and gauge all done. I need to straighten the regulator little crooked now i look at it I need two more elbows to run the line from regulator to carb. Also cooling system in and secure with the alt. whats left is the electrical harness, clutch pedal and cable, speedo cable, drive shaft, have the gt sway bar and sway bar links to install along with the ford racing front springs and the new struts. All parts i have, so wont be long now.. oh and exhaust...yeah that's a big one
i mover the FPR to the shock tower...around here its illegal at the track to have it mounted to the firewall
