Default 1986 Nevada Highway Patrol SSP

Considering selling my 1986 Nevada Highway Patrol mustang SSP. 1 of 10 NHP used in 1986. It's the only 86 NHP known to still exist in the country. Only the second 4 eye NHP in the country. 1 85 and this 86.

I have too many projects at the moment. I'm not looking to make money on this car. Asking what I have in it. I want it to go to someone that would give it the restoration it deserves. I bought it at the first of the year, drove it on the trailer and back off and into inside storage awaiting restoration. It runs and drives, frame rails are straight as an arrow, floorboards are good etc etc. It still wears it's faded blue original paint with double bar sticker remnants still on insides of both doors. Still has whip antenna hole in quarter. Interior needs to be redone. It just needs to be restored and put back to its former glory.

Mike Stapleton of NHPcars.com knows this car and helped me research it. We 'think' it's Unit #289 out of HQ Region/Carson City. I also have 2 correct NOS spotlights and brackets, 4 almost new correct steelie wheels and an almost new correct Uniden Scanner that can go with it or without it depending on price.

$4000 as is or $4500 with additional equipment. Deluxe Marti Report included with extra door sticker. Located just outside Birmingham, AL

Freshen up the mechanicals and interior, put the steelies back on it and drive it as is with all of the paint patina is what I'd do.

Thanks guys. Have a few interested parties. Just want it to go to a good home where someone will preserve its heritage and not cut it up.

That car should be restored in my opinion. Did it have a console? In your short drives on and off the trailer did it feel like it could be somewhat reliable?

PO put a new fuel pump in it to get it running before I bought it. Aside from on and off the trailer it was driven about a block. Seemed to drive and shift fine. No signs of clutch issues. I would suggest going through all the normal maintenance checks....change oil, trans fluid, coolant, check brakes etc. and it should be fine for a while. But eventually a rebuild would be good in the future since these cars had so many miles put on them while in service and then the private miles on top of that after auction.

There is only one other four eyed Nevada SSP known to have survived at this time. This is certainly a rare SSP deserving of a full resto back into its in-service livery. Here is what they looked like in 86 -

Man that's very cool....thanks for posting. It would probably cost a fortune to restore it back to that condition I'm guessing.

Its really not as much as you would think. Most of the equipment can be found relatively cheap and decals can be reproduced fairly cheaply. But these cars usually pull more value than a standard fox when restored.
