Default Parts compatiblity question for a 1981 mustang

Howdy guys, I just purchased a 1981 mustang. It needs a lot of work but I will slowly chip away at it till its finished. I was wondering what years of mustangs are 1981s generally compatible with. As in like trim, hinges, mainly just general parts I would need as I restore her. Thanks guys.

The trim will be 79-82 specific. Hinge parts are 79-93 interchangeable. You need to be more specific about the "general parts". But most everything is 79-93 interchangeable if not "correct"

Ok thanks, that really helps for now. I'll try to be more specific once i figure out what parts I need. Thanks again for helping me out. Nice mustang by the way.

I agree. There are a lot of things that are good across the years and then others like PaceFever said are more specific like 79-82, 83-86, 87-93 etc.

Check out places like NPD (http://www.npdlink.com/store/catalog...ng-2457-1.html). They have a lot to look at and a really cool free(!) catalog! FMR also (http://www.foxresto.com/). I've bought from them but I try to plan ahead as it's expensive to ship to Canada so I can combine shipping.

At least they can show you what's available out there.

There is a lot of information and resources on the site if you can find the right search words It's all helped me immensely.

You could post a want ad once you know what you need also. Good luck!
