    Default '84 Tu-Tune - 5C / 1E Resto Mod Project

Well, just dropping in to start this thread ... a project for my younger son, Cameron Lee.

This is the first Fox Body Cameron obtained soon after his older brother Cory nailed an 89 GT 5 speed car. Just a little humor to add ... Cam was very competitive, blew his brother out of the water acquiring four cars total. We have three cars here which belonged to Cam ... each has a dedicated future here in his memory.

The formerly 2.3L 84 is painted over as are many, over time he and I did engine, chassis, brake, and drive train upgrades to her in preparation for daily driver intent. One day picking up some parts, Cam spotted a car for sale in a guys yard just around the corner from where we just left. long story short. Cameron and I cut a deal with James on a 90 Coupe equipped with a fresh carb'd 306 build mated to TCI C4 driveline goodies.

This became then his car of choice that week, soon to be followed by two more, and that sweet 1984 Tu-Toner consequently was placed on what I like to call ... Man-A-Pause.

Several years have passed since joining this forum in 2009, significant life changing events have occurred, and now I am slowly getting back on board, so to speak. As a family, we intend to complete my son's three cars with this 4 Eye being very important to me. This next photo represents a day when I completed several key changes at a friends shop ... brought her home, and as the story goes, two days later she went into storage until now.

I AM BACK AND PULLING WRENCHES AGAIN SOON!

I am confident we are surrounded by a wonderful group of guys willing to both help and enjoy my journey - Thanks to everyone in advance.

Well, getting better ... standing upright ... moving with certainty also.
Need to shift my energy toward getting back to work and... car and home projects.

Thanks, this one shall end up with a hydraulic flat tappet 302 I built for a totally renewed F100 given to my dad back in '87, placed in a cleaned up and smoothed engine bay. This motor has only 42k on it, Dad gave the truck back to me prior to his passing, I feel this will sweeten the story told of Cameron's car. Have already upgraded to Pony rims, 89GT brakes, an AOD transmission and an 8.8 rear assembly with 3.55's.

The valued factor ... Cam and I agreed she needs her unique Tu-Tone paint scheme. Interior will probably be quite original with enhanced heat reduction and sound deadening, along with LED illumination, a wonderful sound system (not testicle rumbling) and frigid A/C. The car will be set up more for touring and cruising than street/strip, that the family can each drive her easily to local car shows and Mustang Events.

Maybe a Tu-Toner Meet someday, sound good?

Right now looking for some stuff:
    A. Need a different flat tappet cam and lifters. Plan to use the Comp Cam 268H. >>> GOT THIS HANDLED <<<
    B. Need the dome light assembly.
    C. Need just a little looser AOD torque converter. >>> GOT THIS HANDLED <<<

Chumming the water on the forum now with trades or sales we have started. Any one out there got stuff, do let me know.

That sounds like a good plan of attack.
I agree on the tu tone paint. You should re-paint as close to factory as possible.
My buddy DjBlade originally wanted a full respray in a different color but after he logged on this forum and read how rare these special tu tone cars are, he agreed to go back to factory tu tone.

Today I spent just a little time with Cam's Tu Tone '84 Coupe - simply tough to do, I miss him quite a bit. Took a few photos, that's all for now ... one day at a time.

This car has very little rust, decent interior and cluttered with items we gathered at various times for the resto-mod.

A few images of this car at a time past ... I was often tinkering to surprise Cameron on it's progress.

Threw an exhaust under her, a fresh 8.8 with 3:55's, even tried some drag lites on, along with a different hood.
That boy entertained s-e-v-e-r-a-l concepts before dialing in one day on the Tu-Tone Resto decision.

Though not easy still, I really am warming up to finishing this and his other two coupes.

Yes, he lit up happy with this teaser - wheels/tires belonged on another in the stable at that time.

You know, we have pony's on it now, just not certain what will end up on this classic ... doing a 5 lug soon, we have some split spokes to try on this '84. Just may look nice with the Tu-Tone painted future.

Those are nice looking wheels on a four eye. There are a couple of us here also running split five spokes on our 84s, I think they are a good choice as well.
1984 Mustang GT owned since 1991 (first car). Mercury Mountaineer GT-40P engine, some suspension mods, currently undergoing a five lug SN95 brake upgrade and more suspension mods. Some minor body and interior mods have been done as well.

The Mach 1 wheels do look good on the Four Eyed coupes. I was kinda surprised as I was not a huge fan of them on the later model Mustangs.

Good Luck on the deal! Glad to see things are moving along for you.

    Amazing how time flies by.

Well i have been burdened with another health issue, caused by my radiation treatments ... Osteradiocrenosis stage three (not a cancer).
Two unsuccessful surgeries under my belt, with a full rh lower jaw removal coming up next. Symptoms, such as restricted mouth opening, have kicked me again disabling my ability to eat/chew easily - Nutribullet to the rescue. Migraine level pain, paired up with nutrition issues has me slowed down again.

Good news ... when surgery is performed, recovery should be short and prognosis is very promising also. New Titanium Jaw assembly in my future.

Cameron's '84 will be moving forward again real soon gents. Thanks to any and all who may be able to help or contribute at any level to push me forward.

    Default Update ... May 2017

Just dropping in for an update:

Cam's 5C/1E is resting still with a lot of parts gathering going on in the background.
We have been gifted with glove box manuals and trim pieces from Terry in Minnesota and just last week ... six good to mint Shop Manuals (picture posted) from a friend here in Florida. Front nose and interior plastics from our beloved friend, Travis T will always be cherished. Also we have a lead on some interior seats in Kentucky, hope to get them as well. Man do I look forward to the day she is driven to local car meets just to share our memories of Cam's enthusiasm.

For me ... I too am "taxiing the runway" with now two more surgeries to remedy my lower jaw loss. My eating food not from a blender has been sweet, certain handicaps do limit what I can eat though ... bite down weakened, opening of my mouth restricted (no chili-cheese hot dogs still), chewing develops pain and nerve damage has messed with now numbed facial tissue causing me to bite myself daily (sure changes the taste of my meal for a bit, hah). Meeting with the surgeon in Miami next month I hope. Post surgery will have some more down time with my mouth wired closed, then after, slow healing again then ... another surgery.

Nutribullet to the rescue. Piece of cake!

    UPDATE:

Good morning Four Eyed Pride family ... good news!

We have been blessed lately in so many ways - most importantly, improved health. Next, home improvement ... a NEW one! And finally ... my pole barn, closing in and concrete poured. Looks like July 2018 will be the official restart on Cam's 84 (5C/1E) Coupe. Hot Dog!

We will be selling a lot of accumulated goodies now determined to not be necessary to keep - anticipated funding for this memorial project.

Thank you again to all who have contributed to this on going effort to preserve this car and make new memories regarding Cameron Lee.

Dear Admin, can this be moved to the "ONLINE CAR SHOW/SHOW & TELL" forum?

I believe the more appropriate forum location for this type of project.

Man. I certainly respect your never give up attitude. You have certainly had many opportunities to get discouraged and give up but yet you persevere and keep the dream alive! Good luck on continued progress!

homer302, thanks for the kind words ... "not what we go through, it's how we deal with it".

I find Cam's three coupes to be both a physical and spiritual opportunity - wish he was here. Especially this 5C/1E Tu-Tone car.

    Update February 2019:

Well, so the jaw replacement took a crappy turn for me ... resulting in a diagnosis of "broken" and wallowing out my natural jaw socket where it was to be located for a long time. Poop!

This has resulted in my enduring tremendous discomfort and infection not long after my last post here. Returned to Miami for another major surgery, this time resulting in removal of my Titanium Jaw, next removing a donor bone from my lower left leg finishing with a bone jaw replacement crafted by my surgeons just recently on January 23rd.

Home now ... patiently waiting to cross this new hurdle and again move forward with current events and desired events which include Cameron's 5C/1E TuTone 1984.

    The good news:
New grand daughter, Hazel Jane now 4 months old
A new home on our property
    Garage/Shop moving along well
My body is still cancer free
And ... we cut a deal with a local paint and body man (Ford Guy) to do the project car in Cam's memory for us. Frank was visiting recently and spotted the 67 Coupe (here, on Man-A-Pause), inquired as what we had there and just had to have it.

Soon back up and running (me that is) to complete our home and shop projects, be with grand children and get the 84 going. Oh, hope to go to NMRA event next month with my son Cory to get the juices flowing again.

Thanks for your time FEP pals.
