Thread: Clicking Noise

    Default Clicking Noise

I am hearing a clicking (or popping) noise periodically when the car is running. It sounds like its coming from the passenger side dash bezel. It isn't continuous, but it does happen almost always on start up (it also happens while driving every once in awhile).

Does anyone have any ideas? What other info would help figure out where this noise is coming from and how to correct it?

    Thanks!
    Cheers!

It could be something vacuum actuated, for the HVAC. One of the flashers is up there.

I got a scare from my old '68 Cougar once, until I realized that it was a leaf rubbing against the fan, which was turning by way of the air rushing through at highway speeds. I turned the blower fan, and the leaf, and its noise, were soon gone.

I have the hvac system off and I haven't ever turned it on. This noise sounds like a switch rapidly turning on and off, I just have no idea what's causing it or how to track it down. I'll try and get some audio tomorrow and maybe that will help?
    Cheers!
