New Guy Here from SC with an 85 GT

Greetings! I'm currently working on an 85 GT that I bought two weeks ago. I've always loved the Fox body (owned an 89 vert about 7 years ago and sold it due to moving to Germany) and have always had a soft spot for the 85 with t-tops. It was a car that I wanted to desperately own when I was in high school but had to settle for the mighty Mercury bobcat. Was cruising craigslist and saw this car and decided to give it a look. It is in some major need of TLC but I'm up for the job and look forward to it. Already have the carpet for it and most of the weather stripping. Will be ordering some floor pans this week and finish up stripping out the interior this weekend. Engine has 185k on it and there is some smoke on start up so I'll be doing a valve job in the future (unless I just take it all out and prep it for it's next powerplant). It is a manual and shifts extremely smoothly.

Look forward to learning a whole lot more about this car and how to fix it up and getting it on the road. Thanks for having me.

Welcome to FEP, great looking 85GT ttop you have there. It looks like the car doesn't need much to be a very nice driver.

So the car was originally silver? I would be painting that back ASAP. A silver 85 GT with red interior and ttops is awesome and not a combo you see very often. I'm a big 85/86 fan (I too have an 85GT) so I'm looking forward to watching you bring this baby back to life. Have fun and keep us posted on your progress.
