Default factory style antenna for '85 Mustang?

Hope this post is in the correct section????

    G'day to all,
I bought an '85 Mustang over this year to Australia.

I didn't get the antenna with it. If I earth the antenna base I can listen to the radio but I need the stalk which I assume screws in??? Not sure as i've never seen one.

Does anyone know where I could buy one and have it shipped over here please?
Thanks in advance, for any replies
    Regards

It does indeed screw in. You can probably use one off of almost any Ford you can find.
1984 Mustang GT owned since 1991 (first car). Mercury Mountaineer GT-40P engine, some suspension mods, currently undergoing a five lug SN95 brake upgrade and more suspension mods. Some minor body and interior mods have been done as well.

Or you could go with one of those shorty antennas that most of the big Mustang parts suppliers sell.

I saw those on eBay as well with worldwide shipment, but I always tend to default to the stock style. The shorty antennas in black were about 10.00 less each.

Since I think radio sucks, I never listen to it, I listen to cassette's or my MP3 player I plug into the stereo so I have an antenna delete on both my Pony's. This also makes it easier to use my car cover.

I alway have to poke a hole for the antenna on some car cover, the last one I bought that cost over 110 dollar, that include the hole and exactly location for antenna.

Gary, its quite a common US Muscle car part.

The antena is the same as the US 1968 X shells (ie all the 17 strong varaints of the Falcon based cars like the Mustang, Torino, Yank Fairlane, Maverick, US Granada), its a standard US part which continued to 1993.

You might get one locally of a LHD Aussie import Ford from 68 onwards. If you don't ask, you don't get

It's normally supplied best by CJ Pony Parts is always a great first stop.

    I detail clean imports.
Notice the 68'S Ive cleaned like the Fairlane, Mercury Montego MX, they all had it.

Why tear a hole in your cover and mess with that? I simply unscrew my antenna and throw it on the passenger floorboard when I park the car and cover it. Screw it back on as hand tight as possible when uncovering....never had one work lose.

i do the same thing but now i need a new antenna because another perk to it only being hand tight you can take it off and use it as a slim jim if you lock your keys in your car.

And me as well. At times, I almost forget to put the antenna back on, but I even leave it off when I wash the car. I can't tell you how many times I've bumped into with when I wash it.

You could also purchase an aftermarket hidden antenna that hides under your dashboard. I have one in my custom truck. I'd have to crawl and look at it under the dash to get the name of it. The are a few different males out there.
