Default The LTD LX may have come stock w. convertible type engine mounts; original rack ID

Over the last few days I changed the rack out on my LTD LX. It has been in the family since brand new, so I know the rack is original.

Surpirsingly, it did not want to come out betwen the subframe and the double hump oil pan. To get the new one in without bending any horizontal lines I had to gently jack the engine higher a half inch or so underneath the bellhousing. Makes me wonder if the LTD LX got the convertible Mustang 5.0 engine mounts.

The original rack was stamped SPR-CU have not seen this stamping mentioned on any of the Mustang boards.

I think it's more likely that your mounts are just worn out.

I actually installed some convertible mounts the last engine swap that I did earlier this year. I had trouble with the engine fan rubbing on the bottom of the shroud. Ended up driving around without a shroud fro a few months, had to shave about a 1/8" from the bottom tabs on the shroud. I'm sure they were not stock on the LTD LX.

Engine mounts compress as they age. Also, factory 'vert mounts look very different from the regular ones.
Here's a photo showing the driver side 'vert mount -
