When you said 1990 taillights, I was wondering what you were doing, but those look great.
1984 Mustang GT owned since 1991 (first car). Mercury Mountaineer GT-40P engine, some suspension mods, currently undergoing a five lug SN95 brake upgrade and more suspension mods. Some minor body and interior mods have been done as well.
2004 GT convertible, 2001 Taurus LX, 1994 F150, 1950 F-1 Ford Pickup
I used a 90 taillight decal to cut up to make the 79 taillights.
I see that, I just couldn't picture it with them being so different but what you did looks like they were printed for a 79.

The plan is to take it to car shows that we take the 66 Mustang we call GT140T (Pictures below) that has a 86 SVO 2.3 Turbo in it with 300 rwhp and gets close to 30 mpg. This will be for my niece who is 8 at this time and my nephew 5, (when he gets old enough) to drive into car shows. Their father past away several years ago in a car accident, So someone has to show them the fun we have with cars and other stuff.
Wow.........great job on the go-kart. And beautiful 66 turbo! I love it
this looks better than some real cars!
Well I can now say I am done with it. I made and installed the stainless exhaust tips on it.
Now that is just awesome.

I agree with everyone. You have done a phenominal job putting this back together! It looks fantastic, the decals turned out great and the exhaust tip is the icing on the cake!
I didn't read the text first in your post above and was surprised to see the 2.3 in the picture of your '66. It that looks right at home in there. Your reasons for doing this is very noble also. Kids these days need influence from parental figures. There are so many that grow up in single families from just break-ups and divorces, but for an accident to happen it's a tragedy.
Kudos to you...
I think you should post a video of it in action!
You are very talented! Good job!
