If that car was originally an SVO there sure isn't any SVO left. I don't see even one SVO specific part. What's the VIN?

Tail lights are not SVO. Spoiler is correct if it's a bi-wing delete.

The unpainted spot on the core support is where the power steering fluid cooler line bracket was.

    Does the vin start with?:

    1FABP28T

Even if the VIN starts with 1FABT28T it does not rule out a VIN swap (VIN plate on firewall, title, door/tag, buck tag) from an SVO.

Boy, somebody must've really hated every last SVO detail down to the seats and steering wheel emblem! Those pinstripes on the taillights every other Mustang owner is jealous of? Those have to GO!!

I was talking about the semi-clean spot between the right / driver's bracket and the headlight.

...and door panels, dash panels, console, seats, shifter and boot, and every trim piece on the outside of the car. Also removed the spats and rocker mouldings then welded up all the mounting holes for the clips and brackets.

Lots of enthusiasts around here who know their stuff. I'd be willing to bet the vin doesn't start with the numbers I posted above but somehow when some one transferred the title they mis wrote SVO on some form and it managed to get printed on the title. Either that or someone went to a lot of trouble to swap VINs... Or even more trouble to remove EVERY last bit of SVO from the car.

Why would you need to do a 5-lug conversion on an SVO?

I actually went to see this car in person. I went with my buddy in the red Jeep you were looking to trade for. It's a very clean car but the title didn't add up. The carfax according to the vin also states that the car is black.

You forgot to mention that the driverside door tag was ripped off as well.

Having lived in IL, I've seen lots of state title and trim level mismatches. According to the IL Sec'y of State, my very much a real GT with correct VIN was a Mustang L. Not even available in 1985. It's a lot like the bad parts store results. DMVs are not experts on cars in any way, shape, or form.

What would settle this is if someone would post the VIN attached to the car itself and it would be confirmed that the VIN matches the title as well. Then we can all see that it's a government agency screw-up (oh, so rare, right?) and not a re-VIN'd shady thang.

The VIN doesn't give information on the color, and Carfax doesn't know what color a car is.
1984 Mustang GT owned since 1991 (first car). Mercury Mountaineer GT-40P engine, some suspension mods, currently undergoing a five lug SN95 brake upgrade and more suspension mods. Some minor body and interior mods have been done as well.

This vin number I have posted in the Carfax is in fact the same number that is on the dash. As I said though the driverside door tag looked as if it was pulled off. I saw the car on Saturday 8/30. If the car was titled as an 86 gt I would've loved my friend to get the car.

I'm sorry this is what I meant the Carfax said. (***color noted black on 5/23/14)
