Default What are your Most Wanted Restoration Parts?

The original thread started by 79mustangcobra can be found here. At 24 pages and over 8 years old, it was time to start something fresh.

Describe, include pictures and/or list the parts that are holding up your restoration or repair. You don't have to be doing a factory-stock restoration to need an OEM or OEM-style part. If it's a stock or stock replacement part you're needing, jump in. Plenty of us have modified cars that are in need of something resto-repro to finish a job correctly.

Also, please, please, please be aware this thread is NOT for offers of parts for sale or soliciting parts for sale. If you see someone posting something that they need and you have it, PM THEM. Please do not start deals in this thread. Posts saying, "Anyone have one of these?" or "Hey, I've got one" may well be removed without warning. The ONLY exception is or someone offering a freebie to another member. That's it. I don't want to sound harsh, but it's important to keep this thread on topic and as clutter-free as possible.

    Thanks!

Can't seem to get my hands on a nice original air cleaner lid. Every time I find one for sale I'm a day late and a dollar short and it's gone by the time I inquire about it.

1985 V8 car, I assume? If so, are you wanting one with the decal still intact?

84-86 Mustang GT three spoke steering wheel. These need to be reproduced! I had a near perfect one I put in my car years ago, and the sun has done a number on it just like the original one.
1984 Mustang GT owned since 1991 (first car). Mercury Mountaineer GT-40P engine, some suspension mods, currently undergoing a five lug SN95 brake upgrade and more suspension mods. Some minor body and interior mods have been done as well.

That's a dual snorkel one with a bigger air filter can that was on the 82 correct? The Mustang Shop in Calgary had a gently used one in their back room I spotted a couple of weeks ago (with decal).

Yeah, 85 GT 5 speed. I guess I could always restore my original one but I have been trying to keep all the parts it came with unrestored.
I'd like to have a nice one with decal intact for cruises.

Have you tried SMS Auto Fabrics for the 84.5 Anny seat material? They have a lot of nos material for the Foxbody years.
    Cheers!

Anything Capri specific: Sail panels, side moldings. The unobtainium 85-85 RS side trim.

Turbo Water lines for 2.3T cars. (Yes there is someone who can make them, but he needs a big enough order to make it worth a run.)

I personally don't need one, but Every so often, I still see people posting a need for this when doing an 8.8/dual exhaust swap on an earlier car. It's the banjo to female hard to soft line brake line fitting. No one makes them, and they don't exist outside of '85-95 8.8/dual exhaust Mustangs. If you have one, put it aside, someone WILL need it doing an 8.8 dual exhaust swap to an earlier car.

I seem to recall someone is parting out an '86 GT right now. If you need one, you might want to get in touch with him.

That would be even nicer, as long as it doesn't have the incorrect vinyl stick-on lettering. Hey, maybe we
should lobby for a stick-on paint stencil?

NOS gray dash pad in MINT condition for my 85. I'll never get one though.....just way to much coin for my budget. I'll have to get by with getting a $90 cap.

Last time I talked to Daniel Carpenter he was planning on making some for the later (when they went to the 16 inch wheels) 89 up to 93. Not sure when he will get around to it. Keep a watch at the mustang parts houses.

Daniel told me the same thing at Charlotte for the 50th. I asked about the early version and he said he wanted to gauge interest on the later version first. I have an NOS set of the later style, haven't taken the time to compare to the early version.

How about an NOS H-pipe with cats for a 1985 GT. I can't even seem to find pictures of the undercarriage of the car online.

I would love to find a set of seat belt sleeves in Canyon Red that aren't cracked. I've been considering buying aftermarket replacements and repainting them, but ideally, I would prefer originals.

Didn't the 85's come with a Y-pipe, or are you just wanting to put an NOS H-pipe on your car?
