    Default gauge question?

just did the 5.0 from v6 swap and now want to change out the factory oil, volt, temp gauges. I would still like to use the dash and just swap out the gauges with out cutting new holes for gauges or running pods, has anyone done this? did you just remove the old ones and add the new ones in its place? were you able to just cut/remove the stock ones? thanks

In order to run aftermarket gauges in the OEM cluster you are going to have to modify the instrument cluster such as cutting out the back to fit the gauges such as Autometer, Stewart Warner, VDO, etc. You will also have to rewire the lighting for the tach and speedo if you plan on keeping the OEM units as they are fed off the circuit board on the back which you will most likely not be able to use once you modify for the smaller gauges.

Several members on FEP have done the swap, but most replace the speedo and tach too, but it can be done.

    Good Luck!
