Default 1986 ASC McLaren Full Production Coupe Car #46

I think I will be buying car #46 she is a little rough around the Edges but has really good bones. This car is going to have to sit until the Eurocoupe gets done. Here is some pictures.Name: image.jpg

Yes Jim I just dropped the Eurocoupe off at the body shop last Monday. When I dropped the car off the owner wasn't there so about 1:00 I had a field measure across town. I stopped by Sonic which I hardly ever eat lunch but stayed and ate and was cruising down 65 going back to the shop. I decided to see if the body guy was back and exited on chestnut and I spotted the Capri tail lights. I pulled up next to him and asked if it was for sale not thinking anything. He said it was his dads and he did not know I made him pull over between Hardee's and Micky d's off chestnut. As he pulled away I realized it had grey piping and I could see the plaque on the dash and noticed the wing but all other ASC body parts were gone. So we pull over he gets his dad on the phone and we talked about the car telling me all about capri's. I asked him to bring it to my shop we made an arrangement on Saturday. I can't believe there were 2 ASC coupes in Springfield Mo.
I don't think I could sleep at night knowing there was another McLaren running around Springfield I did not own.LOL
Jim are you going to the Ford show at friendly next Saturday?

This car is a automatic car as well still has the air horns radar detector is there and working for what it's worth today. The interior is real dirty usual bolster tear on drivers seat. When we got the car up in the air though I was shocked. Looking at the outside I was certain to find some cancer. There is not a stitch of rust on this car underneath. No undercoating either. The torque boxes are perfect, The Carreras shocks and Motorsport springs are there. Mechanically this car is excellent just needs exhaust but still gas on original muffler. Factory chatted H-pipe and all emissions are there and in working order car does wander a little when you drive it but 28 years with the same shocks and struts and bushings will do that. The rims are hideous but hopefully someone in here can help with the parts.

Size: 143.7 KBWell it is official as of last night car 46 is in my procession and out of the previous owners abusive hands. I am happy to report this car is not as bad as it looks and other than body should be a fairly easy deal. I will rebuild the trans and rear and freshen the engine while I have them out. Restoration can't begin for about a year though as I am knee deep in the other white ASC Eurocoupe and if I don't get our 69 camaro done we may be discussing divorce instead of cars. I don't understand the issue it has only been 14 years ago I started that.ere is some goodies I found in the glove box.

I am excited for you as well. These cars are really neat. Of course you already know that owning the other 2 that you do. I feel very fortunate to be able to own the one that I do. That automatic does make it pretty rare. That is some cool stuff you found in the glove box. I noticed your VIN tag show "71" for the lower charcoal. Mine doesn't show that. It just has the "1C". The black and silver is a great color combo. Mine has the Anthracite wheels.

I can't wait to see your Eurocoupe when it is finished. Your red one is beautiful. I know it will be awhile until #46 is done but I can't wait to see that one as well.

Let me know if you hear back from Henry.

Size: 84.7 KBWell I have made some progress on the car I rebuilt the front end. New inner and outer tie rod ends, new gall joints, shocks and struts. New wheel bearings, rotors, calipers & drums, shoes & pads, sway bar end links and bushings. I now feel the car is safe to drive. He had a set of unfit FWD rims on it that had 3/4" spacers on the wheels. Only half the lug nut would go on. There was also no cotter pins on either outer tie rods. The most dangerous thing was the drivers side rotor hub nut had no cotter pin and had backed out till it hit the dust cover. It Name: image.jpg

Size: 91.9 KBI was doing some cleaning today and found these. The previous owner thought these would have looked good on the front fenders with a made up McLaren 5.0 emblem beneath it. I hope my car is happy I saved it from this nightmare.
