Default LTD wagon tank in Mustang?

I searched and read through several threads but only found the answer to my question in reverse...

After looking over my 1984 LTD wagon, it's too rusted to save. But it does have some parts on it that are usable. I've got a stripped 1984 Mustang that I'm going to put together using 1999 Ranger 2.5L parts and wiring, for fun. It has no tank or straps or anything, except maybe a filler neck somewhere. (It was going to be a semi-racecar and get a fuel cell, but that never happened.) So the big question:

Can I use the LTD tank and straps on the Mustang?

I think you might have to be the guinea pig on this one. I have no idea. Have you asked this question in the "Other Early Fox..." forums? I know that isn't the correct name for the forum. I'll update it in a minute or two.

    Edit:
    Updated forum name.

The LTD and Mustang tanks are very different, so I'm gonna say that even if you could, it wouldn't
be worth the effort to save ~$100 on buying a new tank. Perhaps a couple pictures will help.

This is an '84 Mustang CFI tank (carbureted is the same shape, just different holes).

Okay, I admit I thought they might be a "little" different, but those are ridiculously different. Thanks, Jeff.

I spent many a wasted hour trying to get a Mustang tank to fit in my Zeph, which uses the same shaped tank as the LTD wagon tank. In fact, I just ordered a new LTD wagon tank for $75. Get a new Mustang tank. They've gotta be even easier to come by.

    Alright, thanks.
Maybe I'll get lucky and find one on a 1994-98 Mustang when I'm looking for a VSS rear end.
