Above all, enjoy the events and drive safe! Easy to be distracted when driving those days.
The lane closest to the curb is hard to drive. People constantly yelling to do a burnout, throwing water or bleach out in the road.
Bumper to bumper northbound at night for miles. Fumes. Not fun with a manual trans.
Most of the action is north of I-696 thru Royal Oak, east/west mile roads 11-15. Close parking can be a problem even on side streets due to temp parking restriction signs stating local resident parking only. Get out early like 6pm during the week and 6am on cruise day.
Prepare and plan fuel, food and bathroom stops well ahead of need. All easily accessed a mile or 2 east or west of the actual cruise route.
Unfortunately, try to stay out of Detroit city limits (8 mile road) when traveling between Dearborn and Woodward Ave.
Freeway access is best and good. I-696 and Southfield Freeway (be careful on that one). Traffic weavers, ninja bikes, and 55 speed limit.

Default Cruise weather update and route closures

    A heads up
Unusually heavy rain hit the area Tues. including the cruise area.
It will be fine. Routes to it may not be.
Weather predicted sunny 80's may have a rain shower or two as usual.
Major freeways have areas completely closed. Low areas flooded bad.
They may not be open by Sat.
Plan alternate routes to the cruise just in case.

*Beware: Local contracted tow companies are gouging drivers 500.00+ for tow out of the flood water.
Using junkyard forklifts to move cars. Then impound car somewhere and charge for that too.
They will be present at the cruise to get more. Watch where you park.
*Beware: Highway robbery. Do not feed these predators. And scar you and loved ones forever with the bad memory.

Traffic may be extra heavy on Woodward if still being diverted to it from I-75 and I-696 on Saturday.
All surface streets would also be affected pretty much along the whole cruise route.
The main flood problem area is about 1.5 miles east of Woodward cruise area at I-75/I-696 interchange.
Both I-75 and I-696 are closed in that area. Reported 15' deep water in spots. Pumps inop.
Possible flood damage to their roadways.

The main station for Detroit area local news, traffic and weather on the '8's WWJ 950 AM.
Can rely on their traffic reports; they update pretty quickly.

Was out there tonight at 9pm until 11p
Lots of cars and spectators. The event has unofficially started.
Extra trash dumpsters, yellow taped off areas. Portajohns sprouting everywhere.
The big boys and serious hp were present.
Linda Vaughn is signing autographs again this year Fri and Sat at the Chevy Performance exhibit.
Bought gas at a BP (3.51/gal reg) along with a good sounding 1974 black De Tomaso Pantera.

Default NASCAR drivers Wallace, Keselowski cruise Woodward in race car and 1979 pace car 2015

    Check it out!
For sure one 1979 Pace Car has already done the cruise.
    Wonder who's it is?

One special 2015 pre cruise Penske team party this week.
    They are for real people.
Preview shots of the retro MGD paint scheme to be seen in Sunday's NASCAR cup race at MIS.

A very nice 1979 Ford Mustang Pace car was driven by Keselowski in a parade of different pace cars throughout the years.
The pics below show the car and is Brad getting some TRX tire smoke?
