Extremely nice looking build. Where did you buy the TRX tires?
What is the VIN on your PC? You can PM that info if you don't want to post it publicly. I found a PC build sheet in my Ghia and am looking for the PC the build sheet belongs to.

Very good looking PC! Love the EFI and the attention to detail. Did you replace the decals? With reproduction?

The tires are from Coker tire , but be ready for sticker shock on the price of them. Believe it or not I still had the orginal "OFFICIAL PACECAR " Decals protected in cardboard . So last month I decided to try to put then on. It was slow going as the backing paper tore a lot. But the damn decals stuck really good . I used the soapy water technique to slide them around for correct placement. But yes .. all .. of the decals are orginal to the car. Pretty crazy since I used to drive it all winter in the snow.

Looks awesome, I have a question for you, not bashing just wondering, but why would you put those high dollar internals in that motor, 2.3 turbo motor is good for 400 hp with stock internals, I did the same thing as you but I built my own wiring harness, when I rebuilt the motor (85 svo block) I went .30 over flat top trw forged pistons and all stock internals, a ported head intake and rotated like yours and ran 21 psi out of a holset hx35 without any issues on a megasquirt 2 extra with 60 lbs injectors and I had no issues with the car it made 320 whp on a chassis dyno, I wish I had the funds back then to build the engine the way you did and I would have pushed to make 5 or 600 hp. Either way that car is what I wish mine would have been. Good job taking care of her all these years.

Sorry off topic but around how much power do you think can the stock 2.3 carbed turbo make safely and reliabel with a few minor changes (like using premium gas/ increasing boost) or small modifications?
@1979indypacecar Beautiful work. Love what you did on the car.

My 79 2.3 compressed a ring land at 10psi. The turbo motors all used the same internals other than the pistons, the carb turbo pistons are flat top trw and the efi model have dished pistons and roughly the flat tops yield 9 to 1 and the dished are about 8 to 1.
Attachment 106287Attachment 106288Attachment 106289Finally quit raining here in southwest Pa. Nice day to get the Pacecar out for a drive. Hi Foxbodyfreak. The main reason I wanted all fresh internals was that the original 2.3 was just plain worn out, 145,000 miles on it. If you would see a picture of the 1979 draw thru carb set-up, the engine has a mile of vacuum tubing on it. So to clean things up a bit, make some more HP, I went with EFI and fresh internals. It was important to me to keep the original engine to the car... Thanks for all the nice comments ............... Tim

Hi Everyone
I did some more work on the Pacecar over winter. Cleaned and polished a Ford turbo valve cover that I had , plus I added a Moroso breather catch can. I think it turned out pretty good. The boost pressure was all over the place, so a new spring pack in the wastegate and got rid of the manual boost controller. I’ll change the springs in the gate until the boost is where I need it to be. I picked up a nice gauge from Perfect Tune that uses the CAN bus output from the Pimp ECU. Now in real time I can see AFR, boost (MAP),air intake temp, coolant temp, RPM, spark advance, voltage ,throttle position. Also it has a 5v output to supply other sensors. So I picked up a fuel pressure transducer from Perfect tune that goes into the fuel rail. Now I can see fuel pressure under boost conditions. Was a lot of wiring to do but WOW pretty nice. Still have to configure the gauge some more. It will display four values at a time and just cycle thru the numbers. So that’s what I’ve been up to this winter. I’m really ready for warm weather.

Nice details. Well done on keeping the stock head and block.
Injected is the way it should have come stock...they were turbo charging injected engines at BMW with the 2002 Turbo in 1973, and Ford of Germany had the RS2600 as well. It was just a matter of time.
