Default 83 capri work in progress

Here is what I started with. Got the floor mostly done already. Not happy with it but will be solid for now. Any one with cheap dash parts let me know. Also looking for a stock twin snorkel air cleaner. Might have to break down and get one off ebay.Name: old floor.jpg

The floor pan cracking like that is common. The only way to truly fix it is to install subframe connectors with seat supports. Also look for cracls on top of the hump just in front of the back seat.

What I can see from your dash hull, it doesn't look too bad. I see some one had cut out the radio for a din style. The hull in my 83L was cracked and broken quite extensively but what was visible looked perfect so I repaired it using epoxy and aluminum roof flashing.

I have subframe connectors to put in but not happy with them either. They a straight with no curve. Looked at the ones unter my 82 and they are curved and remember I just set them in place and welded. Going to have to bend these.
Plans are to just make it functional and mostly stock. PO says there was some perf parts done inside the engine. Some day will go with duals and maybe a 5 speed. Runs real good. Had to take her out yesteday around the block. Here are a few more pics. Oh yea mostly want to take the dash apart to clean all the mouse $hit out. Going to leave the trim out in the rear and visit the car wash a few times. 4 dead mice and several pounds of crap. Need to get the build plate here so someone can decode it for me.Name: wip.jpg

Here is the build tag if someone can make it out. Also I'm assuming it a OD 4 speed. What are the ratios? Name: build tag.jpg

The rear has already been replaced with another 7.5 out of a stang.
Starting to wonder if it is a cat. Missing "CAT"on the build and no hint of emblems on the front. Everything else seems to be there.

Yes please someone!!!!!! I'm starving for info. I'll post the build tag in the registry and see if anyone looks there.

According to the buck tag it doesn't look like it is a crimson cat. It should have the "cat" on the tag,and the CC's have a special interior code amd I'm not seeing a that either. I'm not an expert on Capri's, but I don't think this is a CC. We will need Foxchassis to confirm though, I could be wrong.
    Cheers!

It is not a Crimson Cat.

Only way to tell on the buck tag is the "CAT" code, which this one does not have. Buck tag only has trim color code "A", which is the same as every other black interior car.

On the build sheet the interior trim code for this car is "FA", whereas a CC would be code "KA".

yea I caught that. It does look like the others posted just no "cat" on the tag. Also what would be best to "paint" the new panel and all the welds with? Someone here or another site posted using bed liner. I like that Idea but dont want to make problems if it is a cat and has a future resto possible.

build sheet also looks like KA maybe make that piece of the build sheet bigger to see??? it just to the right of the 27, looks like that piece is not on the blown up pic

  18. #18

Yeah, I wasn't totally sure I was seeing the interior trim code on the build sheet correctly - I had to blow it up to try to read it - that's why I asked for a larger pic (later ones posted still don't show the int trim code). Door tag does show KA though. I double checked the Capri literature, just to make sure the KA trim wasn't optional on other models, and I can't find anywhere that it was, so it looks like this one is a CC but the buck tag is not stamped with CAT like it should be.
