Default Window motor dies after heavy rain.

so it sounds like water damage or coincidence, but the car got soaked. i usually keep it under a tarp in the rain because theres no dew wipes yet, just the metal ttrim piece.

any one have experience with this? i know there are many threads on window motors, but none i've found talk about water damage. could the water have ruined one switch? all other three are working. all the wires seem fine from the back of the motor to the connector by the switch, and just about everything seems fine as well. the ground is good.

    and input is greatly appreciated

It could just be a coincidence that the motor died at that point. It could also be that the motor got soaked and then when power was put to the motor it shorted out internally. Water and Electricity don't mix

If you have power at the switch and power at the pigtail to the motor and it still won't work, then odds are it's bad. You can try disassembling, and cleaning to see if there is corrosion or something that is preventing the motor from working. Otherwise it will most likely need to be replaced.

    Good Luck!

Thanks. I got one on the way and hopefully some dew wipes in the near future. Water isn't a friend of anything in the door area. I'm learning alot

Anyone know how to wire up the power lock switch on an 86 gt ? I put in new actuators while the door panel was off. No help from the Haynes manual thus far, but I'm still looking. Any help is appreciated folks, thank you

A new thread might be helpful since it's a completely different subject.

More specifics as to what you need to wire up and pictures will usually help others to know what you need/want to accomplish.
