Are you sure that's what you're looking for? Older Mustangs like ours with distributors don't have such.
1984 Mustang GT owned since 1991 (first car). Mercury Mountaineer GT-40P engine, some suspension mods, currently undergoing a five lug SN95 brake upgrade and more suspension mods. Some minor body and interior mods have been done as well.

Hi Travis that is a good question. I was looking through my 79 Mustang parts catalog and it said it calls for one? Here is a picture of it.

That is really weird. I've never seen or heard of such.

If your car has a crank sensor, it would be mounted low on the passenger side of the timing cover, about where you would expect to find the timing pointer. I found this discussion about timing cover applications on Vintage Mustang Forum: http://forums.vintage-mustang.com/mo...plication.html

I don't remember where it was located, but I did work on a 84 full size wagon that had a crank trigger.
I also had one of those bizarre distributor caps. it was a cfi motor as well.
I got involved when after an engine change they couldn't get it to fire. Found out the crank trigger and the knock sensor used the same connector configure.
    They had missconnected the sensors.

If it's a EEC1 system that was on the Lincoln Versailles it was mounted on the bellhousing and triggered by the flywheel, if my ancient memory serves me correctly.

It mounts just above the Flux Capacitor and next to the Warp Drive Coil!

That's wild! It's amazing the new things you learn about here on FEP! Good luck with your search which I could be more help . . .

Yep. JA Cooke had an odd ball CA 78 Fairmont Feedback VV2700 IIRC, but no CPS.

ITS SELDOM EVER SEEN. NOT EVEN ON THE BPN (Basic Part Number list) for 75-80.

    http://jhkaster.bizland.com/Granada/...ange_Final.pdf

The team at Ford were really smart, but soon expunged and trashed all the information with those systems.

    1978, and then 79, 80, 81, 82, 83 and last odd ball 84 model year CA Fox S shell 5.0 T-bird's and Mercury Cougar XR7 5.0's

1978 Unique crank 302 EECI VV2700 Lincoln Versailles only
1979 Unique crank 302 EECI VV2700 Lincoln Versailles, used later CFi front cover and front mounted CPS

(this diagram is wrong, typical of people who wouldn't know the EECIV verses EECIII differences. But the sensor is right for an 1979-1984 EECIII. )

1980-1984 EECIII 302 5.0 CFi , new front mounted CPS, migrated to 84 model year CA Fox S shell 5.0 T-bird's and Mercury Cougar XR7 5.0's
1981-1983 EECIII Feedback VV7200 Bronco 351M, new front mounted CPS. (Not shown on this diagram)

Found the 1980 version of it! (same as 1979,

    and this back- ground picture).

Not always correct, but this image 2312 is

Ford had its share of electronic engine control pains like the
rest of Detroit did on the cusp of 1980. This is Ford’s first
attempt at “EEC” in 1980 with a feedback Variable Venturi
    (VV) carburetor.
