I'm having a hard time finding a 2 wire alternator plug for my 86 mustang v8. Can I use the 87+ 3 wire alternator plug but only use the yellow and green wire and not use the white wire?

Double check this as I am nowhere near an alternator or wiring to verify this.
If this is the correct plug, but with the extra wire http://www.repairconnector.com/produ...252d-1989.html then I believe you can just not connect the one wire and you should be fine.
Again, double check the actual connection to verify this as I haven't wired up an alternator in awhile.

Trey,
Its actually this one http://www.repairconnector.com/produ...Connector.html
Its flat on one side and rounded on the opposite.
What is the white wire in the middle for? Stator?
My harness currently only has the yellow and green wire.
And this is the one I found in my stash of extra parts.

The one I need had 3 vertical lines on the plug with only two wires coming out (green and yellow). I ended up using the 3 wire plug but only hooked up the two wires and it seems to work fine. I drove it for about 20-30 minutes and it held up so far. I also did the quick disconnect the neg battery cable while the car is on to see if it shuts off test and it stayed on.
