Default Can I make this Tach work in my 6cyl?

Hey guys, so I went part picking today and got a metric **** ton of Fox parts, one thing I picked up was a 6 digit odo. and a 7 grand GT tach. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with how to do 2 things: (Pic also attached)

    1. How can I make the 7k Tach work in my 6cyl? I know normally you could use the "selector" but this one doesn't have it as seen by picture, also I have the original tach WITH a selector if that helps!

    2. How can I take the 6 digit setup and stick it in my original odometer?

The only way I know of for making the tach work in your vehicle is to use the correct inline resistors to alter the signal going to the tach so that it would read correctly for your 6 cyl. Unfortunately that is not my strong point, but I do know there is a thread here on FEP that discussing doing exactly that to make one work. I would recommend doing a search and see what you can find. Personally it's a bit of a PITA IMHO, but if you really want that tach, it might be worth it.

    Good Luck!

Newfie, what year is your car and do you have the 6k tach in it? If your current tach has the selector switch, you should be able to check the resistance value for the 6cyl position to determine what resistor you need to make the 7k tach work for you. Keep us in the loop as it may help a fellow member out. Good luck.

Yep I have all that, and have both apart seeing what I can do, Only thing is I'm not sure how to check the resistance value . But I've been considering taking the board off my 6k snipping red and black wire and hooking it up the the red and black wire on the 7k, all I'd have to do to check it is start it up, if it sits around 800 rpm I'll know its right.. if its at 600 or lower or 1000 or higher I'll know its off.. The only issue is the possibility of screwing something up!

Someone just did a write up on the six digit odometer swap so it should be easy to find.

Travis, I know what one you're talking about, wasn't really a write up, just a few pics of how it turned it, tried contacting him but no luck so far . I get the general idea but i don't know how to get the "pins" out which the gears/number wheels rest on......
