I left the sunroof open the other night, and it rained. This led me to remove the seats/carpet to let everything dry out. When removing the driver seat, I noticed I must have smashed the wires for the fuel pump relay beneath the seat track and the floor. The wires were totally flat. The other day my car didn't start and the pump wouldn't cycle when the key was turned to the 'on' position. I noticed the large yellow wire going to the relay was getting warm, bordering on hot. I swapped the relay out for a known good one and the car started and ran as normal.
Is there something associated with the fuel pump wiring that will cause a code scanner to fail to scan codes? My car has always timed out every scanner and I cant figure out why. I'm wondering if any of the wires that go to the relay feed information back to the computer during a scan? Anybody know? I'm going to cut out the smashed wires tomorrow and see if anything changes.
