The differences in the caps was the detail between the ridges. Some were devoid of any black detail and others had black between the ridges and in a circle band around the face.

The SSP cars had 14 inch steel wheels with these caps in 1983. I have bought these caps for $5.00 each from the hubcap guys at swap meets as virtually nobody is looking for these caps with the exception of the SSP guys which are also few and far between.

IF this is a nice to mint set of caps $60.00 is not a bad deal but is certainly enough in my opinion.

    Good luck with your purchase!

Scratched caps make great dog bowls.

I was removing the interior in the 83 today. I found this switch by the brake pedal, figured it goes to that weird third brake light thing. Anybody ever seen anything like this? Only markings on it say made in usa.Name: image.jpg

Late to respond, but the original wheel in my '83 does not have the "leather stitching" that the GT wheel does. Ford did put a plain version in the SSPs without cruise.

There are more than two versions....the stainless, Pinto type (at least three variations) and the correct SSP versions, which are made of a way lighter (pot) metal. I have found many of both, including black painted, blue painted, and unpainted versions of the stainless.
