I understood Bobby had the VIN's for the 10 1983 GSP Blue/Gray 2 tone SSP Mustangs. The Brown car was not an SSP and not 2 tone.

Where did I miss that there were more than 10 Blue/Gray 83 GSP Mustangs?

Poor wording on my part. Let me clarify -

Bobby confirmed the VINs on the 10 gray/blue/marked SSP Mustangs ordered by the GSP in 1983, but he also found the brown 1983 non-SSP 5.0L notchback that was also a marked GSP unit.

Updated with the one and only buck tag the car has .

Decoded the buck tag in my original decode post: http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthre...=1#post1629534

    It does not have:

    cruise control
    power side windows
    power lock group
    road abrasion coating
    tu-tone paint

Can you flip the tag over and confirm that the rotations number (next to the hole) is 0216? How many miles on the odometer? Does the car have:

    console
    front license plate bracket
interval windshield wipers (twist knob for timed delay + normal off/low/high)
    tilt steering wheel
    Axle Tag Decoder
    Buck Tag Decoder
    Door Tag Decoder
    Owner Card Decoder
    Transmission Tag Decoder
    VIN Decoder

The number next to the hole is 0216. 111614 miles. No license plate bracket, no console. It does have interval wipers. It has tilt steering.

Will you be ordering a Marti Report for it? It would be great if the report confirmed the SSP option. It's a nice looking car regardless, and you cannot beat the price!

I will be ordering a deluxe marti report on the car ASAP. The car is at a friends house now, I went and looked at it again today. I was trying to find some asset tags but no luck. It does have holes in both quarters by the trunk lid for antennas. Hooked a battery up to it and everything seems to work ok lol. Kinda surprised me, as it's been sitting up for 14 or 15 years.

There is no evidence of FHP cream paint? I look forward to finding out what this one was.

No cream paint. It's solid black.

One buck tag for non-special paint cars (including two-tone paint schemes). It's a theory, but we've yet to see a second tag on any confirmed SSP painted in a "normal" (regular production) color.

My '83 CSP car, in 9D, only has one.

I've never heard about FHP ever ordering any unmarked cars that year. Anything is possible, but I'll bet it was a local agency. Congrats on the purchase and bring on the Marti!

This car went to GA in 1983, so it is very unlikely it is an FHP or any other Florida agency.

I just ordered the marti report an hour ago. Not sure how long it takes to get the PDF file email. As soon as it comes I'll get it posted up. I can't wait to see it!

Actually, Bobby aka kapracing recently found information on a 1983 non-SSP V8 notchback used by the GSP. Here is thread about the car...

    http://www.specialservicemustang.net...ead.php?t=5253

...and here is another follow-up thread with an in-service photo of this solid-color 1983 GSP Mustang (VIN of DF218167):

    http://www.specialservicemustang.net...2&postcount=49

So there were more than the 10 blue/gray SSP Mustangs bought by the GSP in 1983. I'm not saying that THIS car in this thread is a GSP, but I wanted to clarify.
    Bill,
Just for the record... They were 11 Mustangs Total used by GSP in 1983. 10 SSP 's (blue/gray) one non SSP (brown) . It was ordered by a local Sheriffs office and then refused. The dealer gave Jimmy Crump (then GSP Fleet Manager) a deal he could not refuse on the car and that's how they ended up with it. It was not ordered by GSP only picked up for a song and put into service. But 11 total Mustangs for GSP 10 SSP's 1 non SSP.

Wow, I've never heard of '82 GT's being used for SSP. Are these legit?

  21. #46

They were used by GSP for testing purposes. They were not built by ford with the SSP package like the 82 CHP's hatchbacks were (at least we do not think so). I'll know more once I get the earlier GSP records with the vin #'s in them. I'll run a marti on them at that time. They're still kewl though !!!
