    Default Trailer hitch

Anyone have a hitch on there car? Looking for one for my 86, need to pull a small trailer for racing tires. Where does it mount? Pics? I try looking them up, but mounting instructions never match the pic. Think it is ok to attach one to where the rear bumper bolts on? (not sure how strong the bummer to frame mount is.

    Just looking for some input.

No, put the tires in the trunk or back seat.

No room with the cage, no back seat. Also no room because the cooler and tent and water and other stuff goes back there.

My 86 ssp has one that im wanting to take off. Its attatches to the rear bumper. Its mounted to the actual metal bumper, it has 2 half inch bolts holding it on. Its a u haul brand, you're welcome to it if you pay for the ride, just pm me. If not I'd still be happy to shoot a couple pics before i remove it this weekend.

I don't normally agree with trailer hitches on Mustangs but, I understand it for your purpose.

Ya I don't like the hitch, I will make it in 2 parts, one attached to the frame, then a lower section that can easily be removed. Most likely I will build a mount to the frame, but was wondering how ones you buy attach. I'll snap a. Pic of my rear bumper later.

Here is a better pic of the driver seat, lots to bring racing. Closest racing to me is a 2hr drive away, auto-x or road racing.

Easier to attach with tapatalk than with the actual site.

.... Thought about it. My daily driver is a Civic. I have a 50 mile round trip drive every day, hard to beat 38-40 mpg and my Civic is paid off. That means no car payment and less fuel cost to put money into the Mustang. I had a 99 F-150 I supercharged I loved, but sold when my twin girls were born for a vehicle with room for car seats.

Here is my rear bumper, as though I will most likely just build my own hitch.

Hitch will have to come down from the frame on the sides because the middle extends back.

    Default Trailer hitch

Ya, thought about an older truck just to pull a car trailer, but then I need the truck and the trailer, insurance on both and so on...

I agree it will look funny, bad, not right, crapy... But like I said it will be removable, you won't see the part that is permanent .

Ya, snowing pretty good here in Colorado. Forecast said 2-4, last measured it was about 6 and still snowing.

I had one from reese #77029. Bolted to frame rails. The hitch was tucked under bumper---kind da hid from the side unless you really looked. Worked well to pull small trailer to track.

Have removed and have in corner on garage. I f you want it make a offer.

I total forgot about this thread, other day I was looking at the recall Jeep made, and see now dealer offer a free tow hitch install on any jeep GC that do not have tow hitch before. Something about fuel tank explorer if some one T bone the rear .

Now that made me think about this topic , I think it cool you add that too, its for safety issue also .

post pix when you can, and dont forgot that pic you promise send me wink ^_*

Front is on the frame. Mine has sub frame connectors. In the rear I usually just put it on the axle, easier. It can go on the rear section of the frame also. Here are a few pics,

Guy I use to autocross with had an 89 LX and built a trailer to tow his tires and this may be a good idea for you - it only had one wheel. He used square tubing and put a universal joint on the end that slid into the receiver. Had a rack big enough for the tires and that was it. He said it was so light you couldn't even feel it behind the car.
1984 Mustang GT owned since 1991 (first car). Mercury Mountaineer GT-40P engine, some suspension mods, currently undergoing a five lug SN95 brake upgrade and more suspension mods. Some minor body and interior mods have been done as well.
