Upgrading to a 31 spline trak-lok with CF clutches and 31 spline mosers.
I've had the stock traklok a while now with the extra disk and like
how well it hooks. Should I bother with the extra disk on the new diff, or
are the Cf disks good enough?

Not for the Bronco I assume
By looking at your signature, have you thought about upgrading to a LSD, Auburn or Detroit locker? I had a 336 and Vortech that lost all power at 330hp. Lost 200hp on the last dyno pull. I upgraded my trac-loc to a detroit locker and made 665hp.. The trac-loc had given up the ghost a little above 300hp.

Nope, my broncs have either a 9", D60, or 404 mog axle.
I've been plenty happy with the trak-lok as is (in capri). I rarely race and
put little yearly mileage on the street. I need a 28 spline 8.8 TL for LTD
(have a Mk VII 8.8 ready to go, but it is open). Going to drop a 331 in the LTD,
and dad has a 7.5 Mk VII rear now.
Tried to buy him a new 28 spline trak-lok, but it is discontnued. Tried NOS
on E-bay and was outbid over $200, figured I'd grab a 31 spline traklok with CF disks for
$229 from AM (for the Capri). Going to use the 28 spline (rebuilt with extar disk not that
long ago) TL for his ride.
So anyway, don't really need a better LS or locker, just want to make sure
the CF setup, as is, is as good as a rebuilt stock TL with extra clutch disk.

If the 31 spline Traction-Loks with CF discs are good enough for the Shelby GT500, I would think they will work well on your car without an extra disc. I have had no problems with mine so far, and don't foresee problems after I swap on my new heads this spring and maybe something that makes a nice whining sound...

LS swaps are the hair implants of the car world. Sure the owner is proud, but everyone else is laughing.
C.F. disks will be fine as is, plus I doubt you could ram another in there if you wanted to. They are TIGHT as shipped.

This past summer, I upgraded the Marauder to 4.10s and 31-spline Ford Racing AR3Z-4026-A
TrakLok unit (<$200 new, btw). These are the same units that were used in the GT500s, so
I didn't feel any need to change the stack-up of the disks.
The carbon fiber disks aren't made like the standard disks, they're segmented, with 3 'pads'
on each side, and are used with a specific (much stiffer) S-spring.

OK, thanks for the replies. One less thing to do.
Funny how things snowball to a seperate car
when you were really working on the first one.

I am planning to put the same rear in my 84 Capri. I have the donor car sitting in the yard.84 LTD, 5.0, Vortech V1, Lentech AOD, 5 lug Mk VII brakes/rear (dads ride, but I fix it )
How easy is it ?
How long ago, not that it matters much now I guess (always miss out on these deals)
If keeping it 5 lug, need axles out of a 7.5 Ranger to narrow it. It's been 10 years,
but I believe it was 2 short side axles, from a 7.5 Ranger/BII, late 80's, early 90's.
I cut off an relocated caliper mounts inboard on axle.
Going to have to do the same thing with the Mk VII 8.8 that is going in.
Emerg brake setup worked out well, going from stock 4 lug drums that LTD came with.
I can get pics next time I'm up there is needed.

Yes I plan on a 5 lug and disc brake conversion.
I want to end up with the limited slip and the 16" LSC rims, and maybe more.
They're still available for under $200 https://parts.autonationfordwhitebea...subcat1=120782
That's a quick search might find them cheaper.
