    Default "84 GT350 Front Seats

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought all the front seats in the "84 GT350's had the adjustable knee bolster support and adjustable side bolsters. I also thought the canyon red material pattern was specific only on the GT350's. The reason I am questioning this is that I found a set of front seats on Craigslist that look to be the correct material, but without the adjustable bolsters. The owner did not know exactly what car they came from except '84. I have not seen them in person, only by photos. Any clarifications would help me decide to pursue the seats because the piping on my drivers seat top is bad. Thanks in advance Gary

In every 84 20th Anniv GT350 I have owned or seen had adjustable knee bolsters but did not have the SVO style side bolsters. Post a pic here and you will get plenty of feedback.

Those look like "H" code Sport seats. Same seats as 83 but without netting in the halo.

G.T.350 had "P" code Sport seats.

No, the seats in the GT350's were not specific to them. They were the same "Sport" seats that were available as an option on most of the 83-84 Mustangs, including the GT's (maybe with the exception of the "L" in 83). Those look to be the early 84 sport seats, since the headrest is open inside (83 sport seats had the netted headrest). When the 84 model year began, the sport seats didn't have the adjustable thigh bolsters. They came out about mid-year with a few other changes, and the change was incorporated into all the sport seats.

I'm not sure if the sport seats were standard in the GT350's or not, or if any GT350's were made that had the earlier seat design without the thigh bolsters. However, the material on the GT350 seats was the same as the material on the other red sport seats.

I think you can safely say that those are not seats from a 20th Anniv GT350 because as Foxchassis said, those are the "H" code Sport Performance seats that are correct for 83 and early 84. The "open" halo headrests are an 84 or later item. Assuming they haven't been put together later by someone, they would be correct for an early 84 with Sport Performance interior. See my album for an example of the 83 only, single post netted halos.

Regardless, they appear to be correct and in very good condition and are pretty hard to come by without the knee bolsters.

The P-code Sport seats replaced the H-code seats some time during the month of January 1984. The P-code seats were standard in G.T.350 and optional in LX, GT, and Turbo GT. Leather G-code Sport seats were optional in LX and GT convertible but had the headrest from the low-back seat (no halo).

Those seats look great. If the price is reasonable I would jump all over them.
    Cheers!

I think people over look these seats and are also the same used on Escorts and Tempo.

They could be from any early 84 Mustang or Capri. The switch to the seats with the adjustable thigh bolsters happened in mid model year 1984. They could also be from an 83 Mustang or Capri (but someone would have had to put on the 84-86 open halo headrests).

FWIW I actually think the early 84 sport seats are way more comfortable than the later ones with the adjustable thigh support. I didn't have a late 84 but the seats in my 84 RS are way more comfortable on long drives than the seats were in either my 85 or 86 GT's.

Agreed. The 83-84 (both with and without the pull-out) seemed to me to have more defined bolsters. The 85-86 foam seemed "flatter" maybe is the right word. I am aware that TMI and others say it is all the same. You might be able to use the same foam but I never believed they were in fact the same back in the day.

Also Escort and Tempo seats look very similar but in fact the frames are smaller. They are not the same.
