good upgrade but the gears would need to be cheap to spend money on a 7.5, I believe I paid $10.00 for some 7.5 3.45's then later scrapped them before install, I'll eventually install the 8.8 a have for my capri and probably go with 3.73's

I have the 3:27 gear in my 85 GT vert...but those are in an 8.8 and I love them. I had 3:55 gears years ago in my old 82 GT...but those were again in an 8.8 unit. I feel that these cars in stock to mild form are enjoyable with anything in the 3:08 to 3:55 gear range.

Don't pay somebody. You can do it yourself.
I agree. when I put gears in my 7.5, a buddy and I did it (he is a mechanic) lying under the car.
We also put the gears in my 8.8 with a stud kit and girdle. The axle was on the ground.
My buddy now runs a shop and I just paid him to put in another set of gears with all new bearings and seals (Ford Racing install kit). He does not use a crush collar for the pinion but instead uses a spacer made specifically to retain the correct spacing for the pinion. This way, the pinion depth will never change. So, for this time, I didn't have the time, he had the hoist and I know his work. I had already installed the new speedometer gear.
