Hi. My name is Carl. I've owned a 1965 Mustang, a 1985 GT Hatchback, a 2007 GT, and now another 1985 GT Hatchback. I wish that I still had them all. I guess I have a thing for these cars.

I just bought my current mustang, a 1985 GT Hatchback, about 2 weeks ago for $4000 as a project car and plan on keeping it for the long haul. I also got the original hood and wheels with the car. The previous 1985 GT that I had was my favorite car that I have owned and I hope to get this one just as nice. It got a lot of looks and was so fun to drive. There sure aren't a lot of four eyed foxes driving around.

    About the car:
She is white and black and has 144000 miles on it. The only things that have been modified (previous owner) are the exhaust (flow masters), a bigger Holley carb (I don't know why, wish I had the original), a fiberglass cowl hood, and a new paint job. It's a long way from being perfect. It runs and drives ok, but the previous owner really trashed some of the wiring. The cruise control, tach, temperature gage, and other random things don't work now due to some wires that were just cut off. I've found the wiring diagrams and am in the process of making a new engine harness now. Also, the main seals are leaking. None of this is stuff that can't be fixed though. It just needs a little TLC.

Anyway, I'm really glad that I found this site. It has already been really helpful in my endeavors to restore this four eyed fox. Nice to meet you all!

Yes, it's sand beige. I can't say that I'm a big fan, but I believe it is a rare color for a white GT. I haven't decided if I'm going to restore it that color or use another color. I really like charcoal and black interior. We'll see I guess.

    Thanks.

I had the same feeling because I've always liked the grey or red interiors in these cars , but I can tell you the sand beige grows on you..it did for me. I have a white 86GT with the charcoal tutone lower and a sand beige interior. I was all set to change it until I got my Marti Report that said Ford only built 25 other cars that year with that color combo. It is a very popular and desirable color because so few were made like it. I love the color now (not just because its rare, but because it makes my car different from all the other white 85/86's) and I bet after being on this site for a while and seeing all the cars with grey and black interiors, you will too.

    Here's my 86:

    Cheers!
