Default Turbo RS and Turbo GT Show and Tell

Let's see what kind of 2.3T beasts we have on the premises, post 'em up!

The FEP HQ Turbo RS was found in Georgia, shipped out here to AZ, was a nightmare in a number of ways, and is undergoing some slow but serious mechanical upgrades. A lot of the progress over the last few years can be found in this thread. Don't be discouraged by the initial amount of broken pics, there are still many, many good pictures to be seen throughout.

Here's what the car looked like initially, with some work on cleaning it up and trying to make the best out of paint that I believe was sprayed from a neighboring county, it was that dry:

And, as it sits now, awaiting more bits for the 8.8 and 5-lug goodies:

Once it's runnin' fine, then it'll be time to paint.

And, it is still the only Turbo RS I've ever seen. Turbo GTs, while rare, I've seen here and there over the years. Not so with the Capri variants.

I suppose it's appropriate for the founders of FEP to have a bunch of cool four eyed cars. I can't wait to see what's next.
    Cheers!

Here is my 84 Capri Turbo RS.

The car started in upstate NY first registered in early 1985. It changed owners in 2000, then the guy I bought it from bought it and brought it to Georgia in 2004. By 2004 the engine, hood and most of the interior was long gone.

The previous owner started to repaint her, but stopped for some reason. The car then sat in his yard, rusting, for 5 years. I bought her in 2009 and started the restoration. I have no ETA for completion as I work on it as I can afford it (and my wife and kids allow!)

I have a build thread here as well as a blog detailing the rebuild process.

Goal is a resto-mod while keeping it as close to stock looking. A few things like the seats won't be stock looking.

As of 10/2013 the body work and paint is done, engine and transmission is in. Have pretty much installed everything I have, so I'm saving up to finish the fuel system.

Chris, every time I look at your build thread or see a post like this from you, it is an inspiration and a reminder of the end goals for our Turbo RS. After seeing so many of these cars deteriorate and disappear, I'm thrilled any time I see one getting saved. The treatment yours is getting is amazing.

This is where my 84 sat for several years before I rescued it and how she looks today. Unfortunately, my work scheduled has been crazy for about six months so I haven't had any time to work on it. I have been able to collect a lot of parts I need during this time though. Hopefully I will get back on it soon. I am having withdraws. lol I'm not going to be the guy who takes my toys apart and never puts them back together again. I think this thread will give me some motorvation.

Here is my 1979 Turbo RS. It is a work in progress.. but it is a complete running driving car. 4 wheel disc brake, 5 lug conversion, 17" MSR wheels, eibach springs, hotchkis c/c plates, steeda bumpsteer. It has its original 2.3l carb turbo engine and 4 speed trans for now. I have a T5 to go in it along with a bunch of other goodies when I get time to work on it again.
