    Default T-top lock questions?

I have a t-top parts car(86 gt) that am going to take the t-tops off of and put on my '79 coupe. One of the tops is locked and I don't have the key. What are my options?

there is a 3 digit code on the lock.
Read it and tell us what it is, and one of us wiwll send you a key after you send us proof you are who you say you are .

Some one here has a roof with the same code and can get you a copy .
or you can have a lock smith come out and cut you a key

Ok. Sounds good. I will post up pics of the car and lock. What kind of proof would be required?

All you need is the code on the lock. Take that number to your nearest locksmith and tell them that the lock code series is "Fort 01-336" and the original key blank code was "54G". That's all they need to look up in their books the correct key card for their cutting machines. You should have a key in a few minutes.

The lock code is 297. I would appreciate it if someone could hook me up, if not I will try the lock smith idea. PM me if you can help. Thanks.

The fastest way is a locksmith, then atleast you can remove them and do work on weatherstripping etc.

I have been around these cars since they were new. T top cars have come and gone and we never had keys to them. We always just used a standard truck topper key and never had any issues. I don't see the need to go through all that but maybe truck toppers are getting more scarce. I would stop by a Leer place or Zeibart that installs toppers and just see if they will let you try a couple keys. We never had any trouble with this.

Thanks for the link. I did not think it would be such a popular issue.

I ended up going to a locksmith. The guy was not interested in the key codes. I believe it cost about $25 for a pair.
