That's totally sweet. Me likes ---- especially those hubcaps.

That car is a thing of beauty. If I ever find another clean one, Im going to build something evil.
Great first car. It's nice that you were able to get it for your son. I think you'll have lots of quality time with your son working on or just enjoying your cars.

These 2.8L were supposed to have 104 HP. The '82 GT I have only had 157 HP. With the extra weight of the GT for the front clip, scoop, V8 to V6 difference and the hatch weight alone would even close that gap!
I had a spare scoop and I sold it to another member locally in the spring. Would a person get a scoop hood or just "modify" this one?
Thanks, so much going for it!
I read that somewhere before
Thanks! It was a dreary day today and when I pulled up to the house today, I swear it glows sitting on the driveway!
Hopefully we aren't talking the 1957 Fury in "Christine" evil

Thanks a lot. My son was off school early today and cleaned the windows in it! I also had him write a quick list of wants and needs. He can add to it as he goes and prioritize how he wants to go
I was looking through the FEP library (thanks to staff for getting it back on the air!) and browsed the US brochure for 1979. Oddly enough it did not show these 13" wheels and caps. There was no Canadian brochure to look at to see if availability was different between countries.

Like those are for sale every day! They look good though! SSP look.
I don't recall ever seeing option "K" in the brochure. I did just pick up a NOS set of the 14" caps in option "G" but have no rims at this time and I know where I can get a set of the 16 holed wagon wheels for option "I" (which I personally don't mind).
I really wished I hadn't jumped the gun when I started my '82 project and sold my 15" Ronals. For what I got for them, I should have kept them. Hindsight...

I think I may have found a REAL sweet winter storage gig to store my two cars. An old senior neighbor down the road and I were talking and he has another house a few miles away in a decent neighborhood with an almost empty double garage. The house is undergoing reno's and he is planning on selling it next summer. He said he will take whatever I feel is a fair offer to me and donate the money to his favorite charity. Bonus all around!
Then this little car won't be sitting on the outside looking in!

I have a copy of that brochure ---- and always thought that it was interesting that they didn't show those hubcaps ---- then I realized that they often only show the higher end stuff ---- so I realized that the marketing people had their say in it.
They are as plain as jane gets ---- which makes me want a perfect set all the more.
Danny is right. The page you listed was for the optional wheel covers and wheel types (quite a few to choose from); your 13 inchers were standard on certain models including base coupes. I ordered my car with style 'K' but I also have a set of 'I'.

That makes sense. I don't think I have ever seen the "K" ones and almost assumed they were the base ones. I don't mind the "I" as well and I know I have seen some for sale cheap on Kijiji fairly close this year. I just picked up a set of NOS "G" caps recently and might recommend a cheap set of steelies even for them.
Personally, I really like the wagon wheels and I think they would look great on that coupe, but I think a set of Pony's would take it to the next level. They are 16's (which is a good size wheel for foxes IMO) and the argent color would really pop against the coupe's Tangerine paint. They aren't too expensive either. Just my .02.
Cheers!

Very nice indeed.
Seeing as we are going to be working on the engine, we picked up a couple cans of degreaser and while we were at the wash, we did some deep cleaning! Both for ease of working on it later as well as to see if we can spot the origin of the leaks.
Just from driving home the few miles is was, you can see the new oil. It is looking like the front seal is leaking:

Sweet deal on the car. My first car was also a 1981 notch with a 3.3. Made lots of memories in that car and miss it everyday. Your son is going to love working on that car with you and create some good father son memories. Just a FYI but I have a set of silver pony wheels that came off a 67,000 km mustang that would look killer on that car.

From my experience, the oil leak at the distributor is probably an o-ring. Take the old o-ring to the store with you so you can match it up to the new one. Oil it before you install the o-ring.

Good to know Craig! This job is getting simpler sounding every day. Hope to do the compression tests this weekend too.
Is drives great too! I'm surprised a little how nice it really is. My son wants the sport wheel we salvaged this spring and is currently on my '82. I'm cool with that, I'll put the cruise wheel back on it. That will sharpen up the inside even more!
So after cleaning the car up and marvelling at how original and great shape it is in I took some pictures of a few of the various part numbers and factory labels plainly still visible.
Air cleaner inlet. I know I saw a thread of someone who was recreating this type of stamping but I could not find it. The top of the cover will need refinishing.

Wiper motor. Again, like the engine decal; was this factory done or someone for reference redid it? Early in the build; new part for foxes??

I'll say it again: it's so all-there. Being washed down and in the garage now, it gave me the luxury to slide under to look at a couple of spots more closely. To my amazement; okay this is what I was really looking for, I found this here buck tag hiding on the rad support behind the driver's side high-beam light. It was bent down and hardly noticeable!! I bent it up for this picture. What a crazy spot to get at!! This was looking straight up through a hole in the bottom of the bumper cover.
