I've never been a fan of the headlight covers, though I'm sure they help a little with aerodynamics and protecting the lights. Just don't care for the look as it seems like trying to mimic the aero cars.

The banner is cool. I would have liked one of those for my car.

The car is looking great. I've never been wild about the look of aftermarket add ons like those headlight covers but somehow they just look right on your car. It might just be because I never see them anymore but I think you should use them.

I like the headlight covers. As long as they are clear. I think it cleans up the lines of the front of the car a bit.

Sorry for the delayed response to the voting on the headlight covers. With the vote 5-1 including me to add them to the car they were on the to-do list!

A couple of days ago, I discovered that my wife thinks they look "cheesy" so has vetoed this decision. I appreciate the feedback

Looks like it stays as is!

    Default Headliner V3 installed!

JB Weld I mixed up a batch and applied a thin layer in all of the four corners to hopefully hold it fast. It seemed the stress due to the stretch to fit the contour in the corners is where the failure started. Good luck to us

So a couple of weeks ago, I got this headliner re-installed. Hopefully for the last time! I trimmed it all up and put everything back together inside! No real issues putting it in. As I noted previously, I have had this apart enough times, I have it memorized and streamlined now!

While putting it back together, I got the upholstery cleaner out and redid the carpet in the foot wells and the front seats, dusted and wiped everything down to come out at the end with this again!

One other thing that was damaged in the fender bender was the plastic button on the center of the sport wheel. I think Jackson had caught it with his elbow or something.

I had accumulated some spare parts, chose the best of it all and set to cleaning and polishing. It turned out really good too once back together!

Good to see your getting down to just the detail stuff now. Back on the road soon I hope.

Soon to be Ed. Looks like it will be just in time for the AMAC show in Airdrie on the 16th! A few things left to do but formalities I hope.

Recently, I was up to some other things.

Set up on the front ramps and levelled so I can get at the tie rods to do the alignment.

    http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/82...eok3c.jpg.html

I had one last go-round with wet sanding and polishing my touch-ups plus doing some other areas I wasn't happy with. I also gave the rest of the car that was not re-painted a once over. That allowed me to add a few more last details

    New reproduction coolant fill label.

    Default Fan Shroud

So in the accident, the fan shroud hit the fan and shattered on one side. Not usable unfortunately!

These were all the pieces I managed to salvage and put back together.

As easy as it sounds, a replacement wasn't the easiest to track down. I found a couple of options but managed to find a decent one a few hours away a few months ago and finally managed to get it from the guy last weekend!

It was in really good condition other that some surface oxidation which was a shame as our original was in really good shape given the age.

    http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/82...gnkh5.jpg.html

I polled the site and found a product to apply to "refresh" it.

    http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/82...jibtl.jpg.html

Results were encouraging but the deterioration was somewhat bad on the top. While decent and usable, I will research restoration a little more as well as search for an upgrade.

Have you made contact with the guy that did your pinstriping? Would be nice to have the same person complete the job.

Amazing progress, and attention to detail, as always. The lights reflected in the paint in the hood emblem photo literally blinded me when I scrolled down.

I am looking to have most of the bugs worked out by the weekend before the show at the latest

Thanks for stopping by Craig! A labour of love all the polishing and work that has gone into it a second time! I can't wait to get it out in the natural light again.

Well, that was a timely question Vic! I had been thinking the same a while back. I had found the name and number of the guy from before and made a call the third week of April. He was tied up for a few weeks and wanted me to check back. When I did he tried to balk a little and push into June which I wasn't the least bit keen on. He agreed to come this past weekend

While he was really doing me a favour doing house calls on weekends (although I think he regularly does), he said he couldn't commit to getting all of what I needed doing in one day; two bumpers, two front quarters and one door. He got all of it done except the front bumper.

Even though I gave him some pictures to go by, he did not do a good job with the curve and contour around the marker lights on day one so I had him redo them.

    http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/82...sf7nx.jpg.html

He also did a better job on the rear bumper cover plus he said he did some touch ups on the previous work he had noted by his eye. This silver OneShot paint dries a little brighter than the OEM paint and side mouldings but that's all there is available.

Although subtle, the second go at the pinstriping by the marker lights looks much better.

Vic, I agree with you. This time I chose to be picky and had him change it plus about the consistency for the rear cover stripes the first time.

    Default Fin

After the elation of finishing the car the first time... Three months after that; the fender bender. The slow start on the rework after that.

Here we are. At the end of a one year, ten month redo ordeal.

I changed the wheels. I noticed a small gouge in one of the tires on the ten holes that may have been from the barrier. Plus I plan on a show on the 16th!

    http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/82...zsfkt.jpg.html

Notice anything different? That's right. Other side of the garage. Under it's own power. I had no real issues re-starting the engine. It was reluctant to kick down the high idle but with a slight adjustment and a nudge it seems to be starting decent now.

    http://s1337.photobucket.com/user/82...uqcho.jpg.html

I added one final touch. I have always loved Metallica and when in Hawaii, we found this skate/local fashion design store in a random mall called "Aloha made me do it" and I thought the decal was cool.

From their website I just searched: "Aloha means so many different things: hello, goodbye, peace, love, and so much more. Aloha inspires so many beautiful things in Hawai'i nei. Show us what aloha makes you do!"

My wife and family love Hawaii and I thought this was fitting for the car for the time being.

Yes, Dave it paid off in the end. It was just very painful and tedious along the way. Aloha means many things and could cover much of the reasoning for the effort on the car.

I've had it out twice for a couple quick drives to put through the paces a little to ensure no issues. This included taking the turn where the damage happened. Where you can still make out a little black on the concrete barrier to flip it the bird!

Then I finally got my SVO out of storage for the year...and put the Tangerine Machine in that garage for a bit. Safe and sound

Your 79 coupe turned out just awesome. I absolutely love it, even the styled steel wheels with trim rings.
