Default How to restore a leather steering wheel with super glue

HOW TO RESTORE A LEATHER STEERING WHEEL WITH SUPER GLUE
THIS IS HOW I DID MY THREE SPOKE WHEEL THAT WAS OUT OF A PARTS CAR IT HAD VERY BAD DRY LEATHER AND CHUNKS/HOLES MOSTLY AT THE TOP.
WIPE IT CLEAN WITH LAQ THINNER, USE LIQUID SUPER GLUE ON THE DRY AREAS. ON THE DEEP GOUGES I USED SUPER GLUE AND FAKE NAIL POWDER TYPE FILLER. LET IT DRY OVER NIGHT.. SAND IT T WITH SOME 220. WIPE AGAIN WITH LAQ THINNER.
I USED A LIQUID LEATHER DYE. 3 COATS. LET IT DRY A FEW HOURS AND BUFF WITH A SOFT TOWEL. I USED A LEATHER PROTECTANT AFTER. HERE THE PICS.

How did you think to use nail filler?

    Good work!

Good job! I know a lot of people these days seem to have piles of cash to throw at their cars, but I still love this sort of old school home refurb work... doing the best you can with what you have.

On a side note, I also notice how big my sport wheel feels when I drive my car, and I consider putting on a smaller wheel, but in the end there is something "cool" about these sport wheels.

Update after 2 years it still looks great, no cracking or fading. I just saved a bunch of money by re-doing it this way.

Looks great, thanks for sharing! I wonder if this method would work with the newer simulated leather GT wheels?
