Default Metro Detroit 2023 car events

First of several annual cruise events around here.
Eastpointe, MI. NB and SB Gratiot Ave. 8 mile road to 10 mile road.
Food, ice cream trucks, outdoor bbq parties with beer and bands, car shows in every parking lot.
Motorcycle police and mobile base units from surrounding cities just in case. Everybody behaved.

'Sit site' 1. Stayed 4 hours. Shaded on side of building. Real bathroom inside.
Our cars are the two in the middle. The end Mustangs seats get hot when parked. Fold the fronts forward!
Blue car in lot is 67 Fairlane 289 2v 4 speed.
Owner of 66 Mustang's brother left his restored 71 Boss 351 Mustang at home. Darn.

Moving on to 'sit site' 2 In front of a closed Big Boy. Stayed 4 hours. Sun on our backs and necks.
A Ranger with a cool faux wood/metallic gold orange paint scheme.
Made many sort of fast passes by us in the cruise lane.
Could not catch a good unobstructed photo. Elusive. We nicknamed it The Fugitive.

I do not use phone apps or have access to Instagram, etc.. No Foxfest ticket for me.
Foxfest info is still vague except to buy into the show.
    Who is organizing it?
Who is this 'team of Fox Body Ford enthusiasts?"
    Who is Eventbrite?
Is the meet and greet off site at a local pub?
Who exactly is Motor City Foxfest LLC and Motor City Foxfest 2023
    Scam?
None of the offsite locations for events or tours that week are connected directly to Foxfest?
But are made to appear to be?
    Who really is Bill Butler?

Do you have some kind of problem with foxfest and the fact some people are organizing a show for strictly foxbody fords? There is going to be a great turnout of cars, some ultra rare foxes are coming including one I am bringing from NC. Either show up and enjoy it or don’t come at all

I don't understand the skepticism of Motor City Foxfest at all. Suit yourself gr79, I'm confident it's going to be a great time with a ton of awesome cars and like minded people.

Default Foxfest will be very special.

Ow I stand corrected. Sincere apology for offending anyone or posting pessimistic comments. Please don't kick me out.

Being local, been out there for many shows and, over time, to several of the well chosen pre show venues.
Was out there for the Mustang anny shows and yearly Mustang Memories show in Aug.
Hope to experience a large prime gathering of certain cars and FEP owners there unlike ever before.

Changed my take on all this after reading facebook posts. Am not a social media person. Never texted.

Will go, pay cash with penalty. Volunteering for show cleanup would be fun. Maybe get a discount.
Just called the posted phone number for volunteer info- got redirected to another phone number to leave a message. ???
Sent email. Curious to see response.

Defiantly will be out on Woodward Friday weather permitting. Prob sit out there in our regular spot and do video with the camcorder.
Distance from Ford Garage to Woodward Ave, is about 20-25 miles one way depending on route.
Fords Garage restaurant is a short walk from Jack Demmer lot. Across the tracks from the excellent Henry Ford Museum.

"For those interested, there will also be a cruise to historic Woodward Avenue departing from Ford's Garage at 6 P.M. and returning for the Afterglow at the host hotel at 9 P.M. It's an opportunity to cruise with hundreds of classic and specialty cars and/or bring a chair, park and check out all the cool vehicles!"

Emailed Foxfest and got a response few hours ago about helping clean up.
"That would be great. We could use the help".
    Could use the exercise.

Default Eastside Metro Detroit Gratiot Cruise 'part 2' Sun 8/6

    https://ctgratiotcruise.com/

First one was on nb/sb Gratiot Ave 8 mile to 10 mile road in June.
This one is further north on nb/sb Gratiot Ave from 14 mile rd to just north of 16 mile road (Metropoliton Pkwy).
Weather is always primo with chance of quick rain later in the afternoon like at the Foxfest days.
A fun party time in old 60's-70's stomping ground.
Plenty of spectators, food, live music, shirts, stickers, cars parked and cruising. First one was in 2003.

Our old Gratiot circuit went from 16 mile down to 8 mile and back. Round and around. None of our cars had a/c.
    Friend's new 70 440-6 Cuda used 1/4 tank Sunoco 260 each 'lap'.
Car was power shifted regularly once a lap, not sissy shifted. Blow out the carbon, keep plugs clean just in case.
Plum Crazy, black top, white int, blk hockey stripe, silver shaker, 4sp/4.10, Jr headers, Thrush round header mufflers.
What beautiful engine sounds riding in that car. Music too 8 tracks until something serious was about to go down.
Spencer Davis played the rally cry. Bands with Leslie organs and a fast beat. Skip the slow or deep stuff.

Weekend, used to play poker till 9pm, then hit the road for a few hours.
All helped with gas money. No drinking, smoking.
All windows had to be rolled down for the correct clean hardtop look.
All watched for Roseville's finest who had a field day with tickets.
That is why Gratiot Ave thru the City of Roseville, from 10 mile to 14 mile, has no official sponsored Gratiot Ave cruise events.

Definity were all out drag races from a light or a 20-30 roll. Money runs were on 8 mile or e-way.
Many 2nd-3rd gear sprint races or until it was obvious who had the faster car.
Would determine to 'go' by the sound of a cars cam profile or smell out the back, plus engine hood/fender badges.
Ticking solid lifters, faint tinny sound of headers, no badges, rear jacked up a bit, big tires or street slicks-ohoh. Wrong badges frowned upon. Slicks-wew.
If Gratiot action was too hot and heavy crazy, drove out to wider Woodward Ave to check out the real seriously modded cars.
A getaway from the jr's and their pos dogs on Gratiot teasing to 'race'. Them: "Hey ya wanna run it?"
We did race once a whole 1/4 mile light to light (1/2 mile total stop to stop) the cuda (normal 5 people) vs a black 396 Nova. Even race thru all 4 gears.

As the day turned out, rained on and off. Parties and most spectators stayed home.
Did see a lot of neat old cars not normally seen in a rainy day cruise.

    Default getting more noisy

Cities were installing cruise banners on light poles for this week's 2023 Woodward Dream Cruise events.
Ford is a major sponsor. Live TV coverage Saturday, updates during the week.
Lots of cars and spectators out. Seen every gen of Mustang including two Mustang II.
Several hard core straight axles. Lots of 50-70's stock and muscle. Open headers. V8 vegas, big restored family cars.
Custom cars big wheels little wheels low riders off road 4wd motorcycle nuts doing long high speed wheelies.

Seen this car first time this year. A multi cruise show only regular.
    https://www.autoevolution.com/news/b...deo-82556.html

Cruise route prep, displays, vendor set up, will continue all week, more and more each day to Saturday.
Motels filling up, motor homes are temp allowed to park in most areas. 100's of portajohns.
Lots of out of state license plates already.
Road Kill legal street drag racing again this year in special area on M1 in Pontiac Mi.
Rain is predicted several days this week. Passing showers are common this time of year.

Default short and sweet Wednesday cruise

2020 video 40 minutes. Good camera work. Very few new cars were filmed.
Will be many more cars this year back to normal. Woodward Dream Cruise cars attend.
Forecast 70F chance of passing shower as usual.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FE_aD11DNw8

Cruise is on a suburban stretch of nb/sb Harper Ave 1/2 mile west of Lake St. Clair. The air is lake fresh.
Never forget the annual June fishfly invasions. Millions flying and hanging everywhere. Snow shovel them off driveway.

Corporate cruise sponsor is nearby family owned Roy O'Brien Ford where i purchased my Cobra in 1980.
Their display is in a Kroger parking lot. Lot fills with cars. We sit near the sidewalk.

Made it. Drove the Ranger. Ran fine. Mustang temp down alt not charging.
Weather was on the cool side needed jackets 6p.
Great turnout. Seen something 360. We were by a traffic light nb cars were stopped for viewing.
Very dramatic, intense at times than WDC. We redetermined cruise was high on list of this years events again.
Quite a few 71-73 Mustangs. Took pics when sun came out. Seen that Black SVO parked again. A regular.
One owner still had the purchase invoice for her white 71 hardtop 302 auto. Came from Roy O'Brien Ford too.

    Roy O'Brien display:
    Bronco Raptor-88k
Mach E. Boy that whole rear end would be creamed easily by most anything on the road. No bumper.

Mostly GM G body pics in link below of Harper Cruise 2023 but look how many of those were there.
Site has detailed coverage and opinion of most all cruises worth going to in Metro Detroit and in state.
