Nice to know I'm in good company, haha. Even though it's a Chevy. And it's Nascar.

Since the drivetrain is moved back, there is VERY little room between the top of the trans and the tunnel. Getting a tool up there is almost impossible, and the flats you need to put a tool on are inside of the round plastic connector that, as far as i can tell isn't intended to come off. So that means under normal circumstances, you would use an open end wrench. That sumb!tch is a 7/8", and that a big freakin' tool you need to somehow get up there. Most of the way I was able to get a crowfoot (which, of course, I didn't already have one that big, so that meant a trip to the store) on there, fighting it on and off with my fingertips, and getting just enough force to overcome the spring tension on the little ball to turn the crowfoot 1 flat. And then I got to the end and needed some way to tighten it snug. After trying progressively smaller and smaller tools, I ended up with this.

WHAT A PAIN. Anyway, the thing is in now so we can move on. Ugh.
High pressure oil line to the head on an International DT466 I believe it was... 15/16 crows foot was the only way to go! Pain in the %^*! Sometimes you have to make the tool that you need.

Oh man. I'm just glad that wasn't a job I was being paid to do in a timely manner.

Car started up pretty willingly today. First time I heard it run since last fall.

    Love you work, Brad.

My RAV4.1 rebuild of the 170 horsepower 3SGE required me to make and find 23 specific tools, seven just to do the head gasket, and another 16 to due the water pump phillips screw and the other soft shores hardness Toyota O ring seals. I had to get PVC auls to drive in every seal.

And don't get me started on Nissan maintenance. I love Fords. Simple. You talk with people, get good advice. People who think other makes are easier or cheaper to work on, Haven't worked on other makes...

    Take a look at this.

I thought I'd try sticking a 1/2" drive extension into the square hole in the clutch pedal lever hole to see if I that would help me see any distortion in the hole. Sure enough, there it is! I mean, I guess I don't know if the hole is supposed to be 1/2" exactly, but that's still certainly not a perfect square. This probably explains why I have unwanted movement in my clutch pedal though.

I've tried finding a replacement, but all I can find is the whole bracket and everything going for big bucks. I might just live with it. But a Maximum Motorsports pedal height adjuster kit might fix the problem completely too.

I actually do have their cable. Don't really see why you'd need it though.

Yeah. What I wonder though is, if you adjust the pedal towards the firewall, wouldn't it have less travel? Apparently that's not a problem? Or something?

Wooooooooooooooooo!! Parts day! State refund showed up. ! ordered my radio 3-gauge bezel, MM pedal height adjuster and WIDEBAND!

I'll wait for the federal refund to order my Moates stuff. But, once I get this shipment from LMR, the car should be ready for the road! At least unless/until the engine starts ticking again. It didn't when I started it last week, but I only ran it for a few seconds.

    Ordered my tuning stuff today.

I started the car and bought it up to operating temp. Everything seems good. No tick yet. Maybe a lifter deflated last fall or something.

Timing is at 13*, and the idle seems decent. I think I will advance it a bit since I'm using 91 octane and see how it goes.

Should be good to go for a test drive once my first round of parts arrive and I can put the console back together.

The annual springtime Pile-O-Parts picture is not very impressive this year. It's not for a lack of money spent though.

Got started installing stuff yesterday. The new DD and its "un-build" is taking up some of my time, but hopefully the Zeph should be ready to go for a test drive in the next few days!

Amazing how sometimes the small pile or small boxes are the expensive ones! Good things come in small packages I suppose!

The Innovate box is a wideband O2. Started mocking up the new radio panel yesterday.

The holes in this panel are 2" diameter, and apparently my stupid temp gauge is 2 1/16" Why the f*** would they make two sizes that are so similar?! STUPID. The SVE radio panel is metal, so now i have to ream out that hole to fit the larger gauge. My gauge hole plug I bought is also for the larger size, so i have to modify that too. I bought this panel because I thought it would simplify things, but I guess it's never just simple, is it?

i have an innovate I think it’s an LC-1. Installation was kind of more involved than I anticipated but it worked good.
