Default 1982 Gas Cap: Anyone Have a Pic of Original?

I am trying to find out what exact type of gas cap would have been on my 1982 5.0 from the factory. Can anyone assist with a picture?
    Thank you

Yeah, if I would have read the whole listing I would have seen that.
    Or if I had owned a 82.

There are to screw holes with the remainder of the strap but curious to know what it would have looked like. Same as an 85/86/89 even? Gray/Black? Thanks

My 80 has the metal cap style cap, my 81&82 both had the plastic cap already. I have a used plastic cap with tether for sale in the parts section.

Here is the one from my '82GT. Obviously the strap is broken and there is some over spray. (NOT from me!) my car came off the line in May of 1982. Hope this helps!

Was there a cut off that they switched between the metal and the plastic caps?
I salvaged a newer (off an 87 Lincoln) plastic one with the strap to replace in my 82 and the three screws holding the nozzle flange in place do not line up with the two on the strap. I might have to presume mine originally came with metal one.

Both of my '82 GTs have the double strap like pictured above. My standard roof is a 04/82 and the T-top is a 03/82.

I just looked at Bruce's pictures again and it looks like the strap goes around the filler neck not screwed into the flange like he one I picked. Are your like that?
    Thanks

Two screws into the flange. I just got a new strap from an '80's thunderbird at the bone yard. The only diff was that it was light grey instead of black. I imagine an '80's Fairmont, etc. would be almost the same. The gas cap was plastic on the t-bird but it had different writing moulded into the cap. It was quite easy to pry off the black seal on the underside of the cap and put the new strap on my old Mustang cap. Easy peasy!

I'm going to have to double check the one I got off an 87 Lincoln. The spacing on the bolts seemed different.

The later 80's one I grabbed has different spacing. I actually think there were four screws holding the on, not three as our cars do

Well, I finally got my correct cap. A very belated thank you to all that helped. Great feeling to find the tough little parts.

Not sure if Ford mixed and match the grey straps and the black straps for several years or if the change was for a specific year. The grey cap with black strap in my for sale ad was from a 1983 LX.
