Forgive me if this is a dumb question. I know that the interior in my car is called canyon red but people often refer to it as porno red. Is that an actual color or is that just a name people came up with on their own?

85 Mustang Convertible
86 Mustang LX
That a dumb name that some people call just about all red interiors.
Not that I ever cared for the name, but I always thought that the porn red referred to the red interior Scarlet color such as the 82 and the 87-91 cars.

There is a big difference. The "porno red" is usually aimed at the 1979-83 models that had red interior or red appointments in it...mainly because it's a very unmodified primary color. Canyon Red has a slight hint of brown in it, which takes the edge off the brilliance and tones it down a bit. I've only had one car that had a red interior, which was a 1967 Cougar and it was red inside and out. The red inside my 84 GT is much easier on the eyes. At first, I didn't know if I would like it, but it has really grown on me. You can check my photo album for a couple of pics that show the dash and carpeting.
