Awesome! Car is looking great. Glad to hear the engine will be nice and fresh. I love the look without the stripes and the AREs.

Having the motor rebuilt is a huge step towards completing your restoration, congrats! I can't wait to see this car when you're done.
    Cheers!

Thanks, the lack of stripes are growing on me but i still think that a four eyed Saleen is not complete without the stripes

Yes it is. I wanted to drive the car for a while before i rebuilt it but it started to smoke real bad so I had to pull it out.

    Default Quick update

I finally got the engine and tranny back in the car. Started hooking up some things but still have a few things left before i can fire it up.
It's looking way better than before.

Decided to use some FMS headers
    Poly Motor mounts

Cleaned up the WC T5 a bit.

Still need the correct horn button but decided to install the Momo Veloce Steering wheel.

And bought some more goodies for #009.
    NOS ARE center caps
    FMS 1/4 window Decals
    Bumper Decal
    Saleen hatch Emblem
    NOS 3rd brake light
    Hatch Emblem

I'm hoping to fire it up next weekend and start breaking the engine in before the Fabulous Fords Forever Car show.

She looks great Mamba, congrats! Did your #009 from PAS come as one piece or 3 seperate decals? I'm also curious about that little red light by your ash tray? My car has the same light, do you have a small hole in your coin tray as well? I'm assuming the light was for the alarm Saleen installed, I'm just curious about the coin tray? I don't see why they would need to run anything in that area...maybe it's just my car, or maybe it was for something else?

Anyway, great work. At least one of us is close.
    Cheers!

Thanks bro. The 009 Decal was actually purchased from a different seller through eBay. I think PAS sells them individually. There is no hole in the ashtray to my knowledge but I'll double check when I get home. That little red light I'm still not sure about. I tried tracing it from the bulb back but there is no wires underneath it or any other signs of an alarm system ever being installed besides that light on the shifter bezel.

Did you figure out that wiring issue on #73 yet?

No, we haven't been able to figure it out. It's driving me crazy if I'm honest. Hopefully soon. Here is a pic of my red light, it looks to be in the same place as yours:

The one in my Saleen is actually on the shifter bezel and not next to the ashtray. Its also flat on top as opposed to the more rounded light that you have. Mine also has a metal ring around it on the bottom where it meets the bezel. Does yours still have any other car alarm parts?
Not sure if mine was installed after the owner took delivery and later removed. Is there suppose to have a siren under under the hood somewhere?

You can see the light better in the second pic.

They are one of a kind jk. They look to be recovered. The rear seats do have the red piping. I already bought a matching passenger seat just need to find a mint drivers side.

Looking good! Same headers here. I have the same light in mine on he shifter bezel, still has a "viper" alarm hooked up that works. It has a four button keypad with Roman numerals. And I don't think a three digit bumper number would be correct. In thinking 09 would be right.

I agree, a "09" on the bumper would be correct. It just happened to come in as "009" so I figured I would cut a "0" out.
Is #26 still for sale? I think I saw it over at SCOA for sale a few months back. Great Resto by the way.

That's cool! I just happened to notice the lack of piping and it appeared that the inserts were pretty close in color to original, so made me wonder. Good luck on the Driver side as finding on in mint condition will be the challenge.

It's strange that Saleen will describe the cars with "00" before the car number, but the bumper numbers don't have the 2 zero's? I wonder why they do it like that? Mamba, does your ash tray plaque say 86-0009?

To my surprise I've found two nice sets already. A pair off a 86 GT and a Set of 86 SVO front and rear seats . I'm up for the challenge, after all I did find the Spats

Leaving the extra 2 zeros off on the bumper cover saved Steve $$$$!

    Default Its Alive!

First start up with the rebuilt engine.
I need to set the timing with a timing gun, replace the spark plug wires with OEM Motorcraft ones, install alternator plug and fix a vacuum leak from the intake to the BAP then it should be good to go.

    Can't wait to drive it.

Took the Saleen out for a drive and had to take a quick picture.

I also got a chance to meet Molly Saleen, took a picture with her and my son and got an autographed poster.
