    These two lines. ^^

I do not want to break anything either, thus, I am sure times will be slower than what the car could do (aside from the fact that it is ME driving). Plus, I now recognize why anybody has said that, eventually, MPH will lower some.

Yep I agree with PaceFever79. Good drivin' on street tires he should be 1.8 to 1.9s. Slicks or Drag Radials 1.6 or 1.7 so with sticky tires 13.2 or 13.3. Either way, be careful and don't break stuff. The car IMO, is a fast street car as it sits!

Oh sure, now he tells us!

It's been my experience that how much crap you break is directly proportional to how fast you go. Unless you have an unlimited wallet and can afford the very best of everything in parts, which I don't.

well, because your car is an auto and his is a stick. my combination is pretty similar to the op... close to the same power with 3.55s and a stick. on 26" m/t drag radials my car will only do around 1.9 60s IF they hook. IF they hook, it bogs... otherwise they're spinning and it's a lost pass. i've run it enough times and tried everything short of putting a 2 step in it. i'm installing 4.10s in it soon so i'll give them another try, but my hopes aren't too high.

i have a hard time seeing him lose that much mph hooking up, but he's got the bug now so we'll wait and see.

Two step is such a game changer. Find your happy launch rpm and it goes there then right to WOT when it clears. Really helps make things consistent.

If you decide to buy a set of 15 inch wheels for your track tires I'd suggest bias plys over radials. They absorb some of the initial shock which helps a stick car and is a bit easier on the driveline parts. I've run both the ET street radials and the bias ply ET streets and liked the bias plys a lot better.

mmb - thanks for the tip. I will keep that in my head whenever I buy tires!

Hitting the track tonight again in a few hours. Hoping to drop the 60' and hit my initial ET goal!

Now, opinions on best method of coming out of the hole..
Going to try the method of slipping the clutch around 2-2500 RPM.
If that doesn't work, maybe try and come out from idle and work my way from there.

I have to worry about technique/launching tonight! Gear changes are okay I think now too.

Well, only had 3 runs in all night. They gave the Slicks class guys about 5 runs before we went once so I didn't move for 2 hours.. Little angry about that.

1st run I had a good launch (had a passenger) with a 2.05 60', missed 3rd, crap et and mph.

    2nd Pass| 3rd Pass
    60': 2.194| 2.316
    330: 5.995| 6.062
    1/8: 9.056| 9.105
    MPH: 81.92| 82.10
    1000 : 11.651| 11.683

    1/4: 13.816| 13.845
    MPH: 104.79| 104.82

Can't upload the timeslip picture so that is the best I can do.
I can't get my dang launch down yet for the 60'. 3rd run I tried slipping the clutch and got excited and came off too quick with too little throttle, almost killed it. My shifting has improved a ton over my very first run down the track a week ago. Just getting out of the hole; I cannot get it down!

You have a point! Lol, auto would sure help me out and solve my problems! I do enjoy my third pedal though, it leads to more fun for me for now. One day I will brighten up and go auto for the track!

Seriously though, saw a '91 5.0 with full bolt ons, stock heads, big tire, and pretty stripped interior running 13.2's consistently last night. Man oh man that makes me mad at what I run! I think he was even trapping around 100 MPH!! I guess I can't drive too well yet.

Next week I plan to do the high school racing bracket they have. Last night I walked thru the pit and the cars in there consisted of a LT1 Firebird, 2013 5.0 w/ track pack and traction bars, 350 swapped s10, v6 camaro, and a few other randoms! Of course being the bracket setup speed doesn't matter, but the cut off is a 11.99 car. An 18 year old was running a chevy wagon at 12.7's all night!

Yes the 300 srt8 factory hp rating is 425..i do have some bolt on stuff.exhaust and a tuner..so that helps...once i put the Zex kit on and spray a 125 shot mid 11's should be easy...I dont want to go faster then 11.49 then you need a cage and im not installing one in that car...LOL....

Hang in there! Launching a stick car does take some practice, but to me the fun factor is a lot higher bang'in gears than running an auto. I really think it's your tires that are killing you right now.

Drag racing a stick car can take years to master!

Then you break parts and lose anyway...

Lmao. I hope I don't realize this reality for quite some time.

I am going one last time for awhile next week because I have a free pass to get in, then it is time to save for some drag radials and report back. That seems to be the best option. I am just happy (for now) that I have the racing bug and am getting rather consistent already - even though it may not be the best!

    Appreciate the kind words folks!

What is your base timing set at? If its at 10 degree's, a few more degree's will help MPH and bottom end power.

Just a suggestion. Next time you bypass the burnt out box and attempt to clean the tires with a little burnt out back up after you did the first one and do it a second time. You might be surprised the little extra heat helps.
Before I had a line lock I used this method. Managed to run a 7.9 1/8th on a 245/45zr17 daytona tire. 60ft would ranged from 1.9 to like 2.9 if I pushed it too hard. (2.3t was all or nothing)
