    Default Reputation count?

What happened to the green squares under everyone's avatars? Did I miss something or just push a wrong button?

It looks like the training wheels are off and you will have to figure out who is reputable all by yourself???????

Did they really rate reputability or did they just let you know who talks the most? Since I'm a relatively new user I hadn't quite figured that out yet.

Others had an opportunity to agree/disagree with posts made by anyone. Agreement/support = higher reputation. Disagreement=lower rep. I do not think that it was linked to post count other than having more opportunities to have your reputation rated.

i did not even notice it was missing until I saw this thread.

Honestly I feel everyone on this forum does a great job of keeping the trouble makers out & the reputable ones on. This forum is very trust worthy. I never did care for the whole green box thing.

As for buying/selling, if I want to buy or sell to anyone I will see what others have posted in the feedback area. I myself am a big browser but when I post I try to make it worthy. This site is very friendly and full of great people. Let's all do our part in keeping it this way.

Popularity squares, Government decided it was a form of bullying. Now there are no losers only winners.

Under the avatar next to the 'report post' button was a button that you could click on if someone had a good or bad post.
If someone posted something technically helpful, funny, entertaining, etc you could click on the link, add to the persons 'reputation' and they would get a green square under their name. Or if they were being a PITA you could subtract from their 'reputation' by giving a bad rep and it would either deduct from the green, or if they were annoying enough they would start getting red squares.

It was often abused, a poster with 1 or 1million posts could start a thread, complain about their flaccid stick of 'reps' and a circle jerk would ensue. A few others who felt that their little green stick weren't long enough would join in on the thread and watch each others little sticks grow longer.
It was the vacuum pump of FEP.

Personally I thought it was a farce, it could have been helpful, but I don't recall being able to see why a person got reps, just that they had 'more'.

Kind of like post counts, just because they had more doesn't really mean anything, just that they post more frequently.

A proper way would have been to have the 'rep' authenticated, but who would want to go through that hassle for 'internet props'.

This has a lot of content of which I agree, it wasn't useful.

Also if you had no rep at all and 1 person that reps ALL the time reps you a negative, then you are full scale red. The more a person uses the rep feature gives them more rep power, after seeing that I thought it wasn't a good idea to keep it at this point.

Just because one person isn't happy with a comment that may not be off the wall, just their opinion, shouldn't necessarily be negatively rep'd for it.

Nobody but the the owner can see their own rep, so you would have no idea why they are red anyway.

So, rep is done, negative rep me if you want oh wait, you can't
