The time has come to move my Dark Sage ’86 5.0 coupe to a new home. After a couple years of ownership, tons of money spent, and it providing me great daily transportation I’ve found a new wayward coupe that needs my love.
This car has been faithfully restored back to original with no expenses spared. The build thread will show what I started with, and all in I’m near $15k deep in the car. That said, it is one of 6 to the best of our knowledge and the only ’86 Sage coupe to surface, so I felt it deserved the attention. Options are: A/C, digital radio (I installed, works and is correct ‘86), 3.27 posi, automatic trans, console. No PW, PL or rear defrost. 128k or so miles, but I drive it daily, so that will go up.
Nothing has been looked over in my ownership. Engine has been refreshed and runs like a top with cold A/C and hot heat, trans shifts smooth, new exhaust, tires, refinished wheels, interior is all nice original (out of a 49k mile car) or refinished, no detail neglected even down to the pinstripe. It turns heads everywhere it goes, it looks like a true rolling time capsule. I’d feel comfortable driving this car to Canada tomorrow; it’s been on a couple of long road trips already. Even the engine bay has been refinished, you could take this to any weekend car show and be proud of it. Since the pictures I’ve put a new alternator on and a new passenger side molding has been ordered (previous one starting coming off) and will be installed before delivery. There is no rust in this car, bottoms of the doors, floor pans are all in amazing shape, even the front core support is nice and straight.
Before I get 100 replies wishing it was a 5 speed, I do as well, but if it were a 5 speed it wouldn’t be green. Just like near all of the brown cars built, the odd colors were always built with autos. If it had a 5sp, it would be red, white or black. 5 speed swaps are cheap, and I’ve got the pedals I’ll throw in for a the new owner if so inclined. Own the rarest coupe built in ’86 and be able to cruise/show it right away. $8500 OBO located in Austin, TX – Chris (512)983-6184
