Default getting to the heater core

i own a 1983 mustang convertible and just recently my engine died because i accidentally did not let the engine warm up long enough so something in there messed up. i have gotten a new engine took out the old but in the process of removing the one i had the heater core intake tube broke so now i have to remove or just loosen the entire dash to get to the heater core because this model came with AC and i cannot simply remove it through the glove compartment. i have loosen a lot of screws maybe even the wrong ones but i think i am close just need some help with the rest. if you can help that would very much appreciated.

I had to exchange the heater core in my 86 and it was a bit easier than everyone makes it out to be in my case, but then again I have the maintenance books for my year. I could take a picture of the page for you if you would like, but basically there are screws underneath, on the sides, under the dash pad, and possibly behind the speedo. To get it out far enough you may also have to disconnect lines for ac, which wasn't a big deal because there was nothing in my system. I'll try to get a picture of the book for you probably about 5ish.
