I got the big injectors in the '79 yesterday, changed the tune today and took it for a spin. The self tuning feature of Tunerstudio is so nice, I wish I had gone with megasquirt years ago. They even have self tuning for cold starts now. A few clicks, start the car up, run till warmed up, burn to ECU, save, then done.

I'm thinking that I may get a MS for the big block car. Maybe in a year or two. I have a set of forged pistons and a forged stroker crank, with a set of 6.800" rods, I would have a 545 stroker kit for my 460. The big block runs so strong as it is, I kinda hate to mess with it. There is the issue of the durability of the C-4 too. The way the red car is now it should be good for high tens. Hopefully I will get it to the track next summer.

I have a video of the motor running of the big block. Nothing of the turbo car.

Ok I was wrong. Little clip of the turbo car. Self tuning doing its thing.

Big block car from earlier in the year. My six year old son loves this car. Got his Simpson racing car seat up front, cruising down the road he grins from ear to ear.

Been a while. I spoke to the guy that is going to paint my '79. I have a color picked out, just waiting for all the snow and ice to melt and my guy to squeeze it in. I also picked up something better for my air ducting than the aluminum dryer ducting.

I look forward to getting this car painted and finalizing all my t-top weatherstripping.

Not much to add. I'm not sure when my paint guy is going to squeeze me in, I hate to pester him because he is/was going to do it for little money. I can't blame him for getting the good paying stuff done first.

I am starting to think of just buying a Plastic dip kit, and spraying it myself. The stuff is supposed to last for three years or so, and knowing me I would want to change something up on the car by then anyway. I'll give it a few more weeks before I make a decision.

Meanwhile, I modified a MM strut tower brace I have had hanging in the garage for close to ten years. I needed it to go around the 90* elbow before my blow of valve, had to rebend the driver side bar that goes back to the firewall and add a little less than an inch to its length. I painted it with a rattle can from Tractor Supply. Their spray paints are really nice, they take a long time to dry, but the finish sure looks nice. I will clean up the engine compartment some day.

I re-did my valve cover breather set-up with an fittings and braided hose. It looks a bunch better than heater hose.

If you can hold out, I would. Maybe give the painter a call and see when he can get you in..if nothing it will remind him that he still has your car to do (I'm sure he hasn't forgotten, but it's easy to ignore something if nobody is talking about it).

With how unique the styling is with your car the paint has to be done right. Don't give up on the painter now, push a little harder. He/she agreed to do it for you at a discounted rate, which is awesome, but that shouldn't mean you have to take a back seat to everyone else. If that's the case your car is never gonna get done.
    Cheers!

Sneak peeks. I need to do something about the moldings, but that is not a big deal right now.

I thought you were going with that bright blue color (which I thought was cool), but that dark grey looks amazing. I can't wait to see this one finished.

I decided that the blue was too much. With the wing, ground effects, t-tops, 18" rims, and Pace Car front end stuff, I felt that the car needed a more subdued color. It might sound silly, but I did not want the car to be too "loud", if you know what I mean. Some might laugh at that, but I had a picture in my head of what I wanted.

My headlight bezels are the chrome style. I'm not sure if that is going to go well with the black.

You can always paint them black if you think they don't fit with the color scheme. I think you picked a great color, it will fit the car perfectly.

It's been two days now! Where's the big paint reveal!

I really wish guys like you would quite posting videos of their 460's in a Mustang!

It keeps tempting me to assemble the 460 I have sitting in storage and stuff it into one of Mine!

Getting my '79 painted has actually pushed the big block car to the back burner for now. And it's getting cranky about being neglected.

I spent close to 10 years messing with small blocks with turbos, the big block is much more fun for a street/strip car. The torque without delay is awesome. I know, not helping you.

Ok, LOL. As you will see in the pictures I don't have any door moldings yet, I need to get my hands on some. Door panels are off too in order to tweek the window alignment. A few more things to tidy up. I'm not happy with how the felts for the t-tops fit, they are either to high or to low in places. Just going to need a little more lovin. Well here are the pictures. Enjoy.
