Default 84 Turbo GT Cleaned up

This is what it looked like after transport.

This a good cleaning. Still need to buff the paint more.

It is having a problem with idle. It seems to stall a few times until it gets warmed up and then it will go to 2000 to 2500 for a while. I am going to need some guidance on what to look at.

Took it around the neighborhood and the turbo spools up quick. Other than the idle problem, seems to do pretty good.

Need to adjust the hood latch, I can't get the hood closed all the way.

Interior needs a complete cleaning which will probably take a day or 2.

    Mike -

Check the timing to try to cure the high idle problem. I just had mine checked today and the timing was off by almost 4 degrees. Once the timing was corrected, it runs more like it should.

Your car looks terrific after the clean up! Are you going to keep it black, or change it back to the original color?

My long term plan is to get it back to original. I am just wanting to get it running good so that I can have fun while collecting parts. Looks like I am going to have to fix wiring because of the Stinger kit and other items that were done. Going to start to put a list together of things I need to fix.

I can't wait to see the progress you make as you go along. I think your plan is a good one. Making sure the car is running well and is reliable will allow you to enjoy it while restoring it. Do you think that you're going to put the engine compartment back to the original configuration as well. If you do go that way, my car is 100% stock, so if you need pictures for reference, I would be happy to help.

I'm so glad the car I looked at that day found its way into the hands of someone that will care for it and give it the love it deserves. My heart almost broke that day when I saw a car that was like mine, but wasn't being cared for like it should. I know that it will be a wonderful example of how a 1984 Mustang should look when the right owner gets their hands on it.

I hope later this year sometime in the fall to strip her down to get her ready for paint. There is like no rust at all, just stupid door dings from inconsiderate people that don't care for other peoples property.

HOORAY! You're my new hero. I would bet that you and I will be the only people on the planet that actually painted their cars back to tan.

Cleaned up very nice! FYI- i just had a buddy find a vacuum leak on his 2.3T that was giving him fits... It seems the back of the valve cover gasket rolled off the lip when it was replaced by a previous owner. It was sucking in allot of air too say the very least....
